Jake Wood (other)
Jake Dylan Wood (born 12 July 1972) is a British actor and podcaster from Westminster, known for his role as Max Branning in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. He has also made guest appearances in series including ''Only Fools and Horses'' and ''Red Dwarf''. In 2014, Wood competed on BBC's ''Strictly Come Dancing'' alongside professional dancer Janette Manrara. In the United States, he is known as the voice of the GEICO gecko in a series of television adverts for the American insurance company GEICO. In 2018, he began co-hosting ''Pound for Pound'', a boxing podcast with Spencer Oliver. Early life Wood was born in Westminster, London, to an English father and a French mother. He attended City of London Academy Highbury Grove and trained as an actor at the Anna Scher Drama School in Islington, North London. The British Podcast Awards is an annual awards ceremony intended to celebrate outstanding content within the British podcast scene. The British Podcast Awards is owned and operated by Haymarket Media Group, which also owns several media businesses, including Campaign and PRWeek. History The British Podcast Awards was cofounded in 2017 by Matt Hill, managing director of production company Rethink Audio, and Matt Deegan, creative director of audio content firm Folder Media. Deegan and Hill assumed control of the Australian Podcast Awards in 2020 and launched the Irish Podcasts Awards in 2021. In 2022 Podcast Awards Ltd, the company that runs the British Podcast Awards, was acquired by Haymarket Media Group. City Of London Academy Highbury Grove
City of London Academy Highbury Grove (formerly Highbury Grove School) is an 11–18 mixed secondary school with academy status, located in the London Borough of Islington, England. It is part of the City of London Academies Trust. History Highbury Grove School began life as an all-boys comprehensive in 1967. The founding headmaster was Dr Rhodes Boyson. It was created out of three former boys' schools in the area, Highbury Grammar School, Barnsbury Boys' School, and Laycock School, as part of a comprehensivisation scheme by the then Inner London Education Authority. Boyson introduced a regime of strict discipline, including caning for misbehaviour. Excellent academic results were achieved, and the school was soon heavily oversubscribed. Boyson left in 1974, after being elected a Conservative MP; in the 1980s he was to become an education minister under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. ''A Touch of Frost'' is a British television detective mystery drama series starring David Jason produced by Yorkshire Television (later ITV Studios) for ITV from 6 December 1992 until 5 April 2010, initially based on the Frost novels by R. D. Wingfield. Writing credit for the three episodes in the first 1992 series went to Richard Harris. The series stars Jason as Detective Inspector William Edward "Jack" Frost, an experienced and dedicated detective who frequently clashes with his superiors. In his cases, Frost is usually assisted by a variety of detective sergeants or constables, with each bringing a different slant to the particular case. ''One Foot in the Grave'' is a British television British sitcom, sitcom written by David Renwick. There were six series (each consisting of six half-hour episodes) and seven Christmas specials over a period of ten years from early 1990 to late 2000. The first five series were broadcast between January 1990 and January 1995. For the next five years, the show appeared only as Christmas specials, followed by the sixth and final series in 2000. The series features the exploits of Victor Meldrew, played by Richard Wilson (Scottish actor), Richard Wilson, and his long-suffering wife, Margaret, played by Annette Crosbie. Wilson initially turned down the part of Meldrew and David Renwick considered Les Dawson for the role, until Wilson changed his mind. The programmes invariably deal with Meldrew's battle against a long series of problems, some of which he creates for himself.
