Jake Silas
Jake Silas (born September 1, 1991) is an American former professional football offensive lineman who played for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University at Buffalo and attended Portland High School in Portland, Michigan. Silas signed with Ottawa as a free agent following the end of his college football career. Portland is a city in Ionia County of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,883 at the 2010 census. 2016 Ottawa Redblacks Season
The 2016 Ottawa Redblacks season was the third season for the team in the Canadian Football League. The Redblacks finished in 1st place in the East Division with an 8–9–1 record. This was the first time in CFL history that a team with a losing record finished first in their division. The club failed to match their 12–6 record from the previous season; nevertheless, with their week 19 win in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers the Redblacks repeated as regular season East Division champions, earning a bye to and the right to host the 2016 East Final in the process. The Redblacks' season featured the first-ever Grey Cup rematch to take place in an earlier round of the playoffs as the 2015 champion Edmonton Eskimos qualified as a crossover team for the East Division playoffs and advanced to the Eastern Final. The ''Ottawa Sun'' is a daily newspaper in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is published by Sun Media. It began publication in 1983 as the ''Ottawa Sunday Herald'', until it was acquired by (then) Toronto Sun Publishing Corporation in 1988. In April 2015, Sun Media papers were acquired by Postmedia. A Sunday edition of the newly named ''Ottawa Sun'' began publication on September 4, 1988 and a daily publication started on November 7, 1988. The ''Ottawa Citizen'' is an English-language daily newspaper owned by Postmedia Network in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. History Established as ''The Bytown Packet'' in 1845 by William Harris, it was renamed the ''Citizen'' in 1851. The newspaper's original motto, which has recently been returned to the editorial page, was ''Fair play and Day-Light''. The paper has been through a number of owners. The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at the Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. The Elks were founded in 1949 as the Edmonton Eskimos and have won the Grey Cup championship fourteen times (including a three-peat between 1954 and 1956 and an unmatched five consecutive wins between 1978 and 1982), most recently in 2015.
