Jaime Rodríguez Calderón
Jaime Heliodoro Rodríguez Calderón (born 28 December 1957 in Ejido Pablillo, Galeana, Nuevo León, Galeana, Nuevo León), sometimes referred to by his nickname "''El Bronco''", is a Mexican politician. He served as the Governor of Nuevo León, Governor of the northern state of Nuevo León from 2016 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2021. He is the first Independent (politics), independent candidate to have won a governorship in Mexico. He served as municipal president, mayor of García, Nuevo León (2009–2012) while a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), and was best known for his hard-line stance against organized crime. The Mexican state of Nuevo León has been governed by more than a hundred individuals in its history, who have had various titles and degrees of responsibility depending on the prevailing political regime of the time. Under the current regime, executive power rests in a governor, who is directly elected by the citizens, using a secret ballot, to a six-year term with no possibility of reelection. The position is open only to a Mexican citizen by birth, at least 30 years old with at least five years of residency in Nuevo León. A bucking horse is any breed or either gender of horse with a propensity to buck. They have been, and still are, referred to by various names, including bronco, broncho, and roughstock. The harder they buck, the more desirable they are for rodeo events.
