Jaguar Mk II
The Jaguar Mark 2 is a luxury car, mid-sized luxury sports saloon built from late 1959 to 1967 by Jaguar Cars, Jaguar in Coventry, England. The previous Jaguar 2.4 Litre and 3.4 Litre models made between 1955 and 1959 are identified as Jaguar Mark 1, Mark 1 Jaguars.Eric Dymock, The Jaguar File, 3rd edition, 2004, Dove Publishing The Mark 2 was a fast and capable saloon in line with William Lyons, Sir William Lyons' 1950s advertising slogan: ''Grace . . . Space . . . Pace'', available with all three versions of the advanced Jaguar XK engine: the 2.4, 3.4, and 3.8 litre. Production of the 3.8 ended in the (northern) autumn of 1967, with discounted sale of the 3.4 continuing on as the 340 until September 1968, and the 2.4 as the 240 until April 1969. There was no direct successor to the Mark 2 series. Jaguar Cars
Jaguar (, ) is the sports car and luxury vehicle brand of Jaguar Land Rover, a British multinational corporation, multinational automaker, car manufacturer with its headquarters in Whitley, Coventry, England. Jaguar Cars was the company that was responsible for the production of Jaguar cars until its operations were fully merged with those of Land Rover to form Jaguar Land Rover on 1 January 2013. Jaguar's business was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing bodies for passenger cars. Under the ownership of SS Cars, the business extended to complete cars made in association with Standard Motor Company, many bearing ''Jaguar'' as a model name. The company's name was changed from SS Cars to Jaguar Cars in 1945.
