Jagoda Szmytka
Jagoda Marta Szmytka (born 15 January 1982, Legnica) is a Polish composer. She has attracted attention for her style of music, which uses elements not only of sound, but also of the sense of space and visual arts, and also for her opera, ''Dla głosów i rąk'' (For Voices and Hands). She is a well-known composer in Europe and has been recognized abroad, winning numerous juried scholarships, including the Staubach Honoraria for Composition. Biography Jagoda Szmytka studied history of art and philosophy at the University of Wrocław, Poland (2000-2005) as well as composition and music theory with Krystian Kiełb and Cezary Duchnowski at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. Legnica
Legnica (; , ; ; ) is a city in southwestern Poland, in the central part of Lower Silesia, on the Kaczawa River and the Czarna Woda. As well as being the seat of the county, since 1992 the city has been the seat of the Diocese of Legnica. Legnica had a population of 97,300 inhabitants. The city was first referenced in chronicles dating from the year 1004, although previous settlements could be traced back to the 7th century. The name "Legnica" was mentioned in 1149 under High Duke of Poland Bolesław IV the Curly. Legnica was most likely the seat of Bolesław and it became the residence of the dukes of Legnica from 1248 until 1675. Legnica is a city over which the Piast dynasty reigned the longest, for about 700 years, from the time of ruler Mieszko I of Poland after the creation of the Polish state in the 10th century, until 1675 and the death of the last Piast duke George William. Lucerne Festival
Lucerne Festival is one of the leading international festivals in the world of classical music and presents a series of classical music festivals based in Lucerne, Switzerland. Founded in 1938 by Ernest Ansermet and Walter Schulthess, it currently produces three festivals per year. Since 1999, Michael Haefliger has been its Executive and Artistic Director. Juliane Klein (born 3 November 1966) is a German composer and publishing director. Life Born in Berlin, Klein began studying clarinet, piano, musical composition and improvisation at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin as a young student in 1978 and was a lecturer for composition at the same university from 1989 to 1992. Together with Thomas Bruns, she founded the "Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin" in 1987, which she directed until 1991. From 1993 to 1997 she continued her postgraduate studies with Helmut Lachenmann in Stuttgart. In 1999 she founded the music publishing house "Edition Juliane Klein". Ensemble Recherche is a German contemporary classical music ensemble with nine fixed members.
