Jager Burton (born August 24, 2002) is an American football offensive lineman for the Kentucky Wildcats. Early life and high school Burton attended Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington, Kentucky. As a senior, he was named the Kentucky Gatorade Football Player of the Year, the Paul Hornung Award winner as the state's top player, and the Co-Mr. Kentucky Football award winner. Coming out of high school, Burton was rated as a four-star recruit and the best prospect in Kentucky, and committed to play college football for the Kentucky Wildcats over offers from schools such as Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama and Oregon. Frederick Douglass High School (Lexington, Kentucky)
Frederick Douglass High School is a public high school located on the eastern side of Lexington, Kentucky, United States. The school is one of six high schools in the Fayette County Public Schools district and was constructed to reduce overcrowding at Bryan Station High School and Henry Clay High School. Frederick Douglass High School is named after the 19th century African-American abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Opened in August 2017, the school is the newest high school in the Fayette County Public Schools system. Football Frederick Douglass rose quickly to national prominence, ranking as high as 48th nationally in the MaxPreps. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
