Jagdish Nandan College also known as J. N. College, Madhubani is a constituent degree college of the Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga. It is located in the city of Madhubani in the Mithila region of Bihar. It is a co-educational institute providing education up to graduation in the stream of science, commerce, humanities and social sciences. It is also affiliated to the Bihar School Examination Board, Patna for +2 (intermediate college) students admitted in the college. History The college was initially established at Babubarhi in the year 1959. Later in the year 1962, it was transferred in the city of Madhubani. The foundation of the college was incepted by ''Gunjeshwari Singh'' in 1949. Gunjeshwari Singh was the wife of ''Babu Jagadish Nandan Singh'' who was the son of the prince ''Kirti Singh'' of the Raj Darbhanga. The Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), formerly Mithila University, is a public university in India. Beginning in 1972, the university initially functioned from the Mohanpur House at Sara Mohanpur village on the Darbhanga-Sakri route. In 1975, it was shifted to the campus belonging to Raj Darbhanga. The university is in Darbhanga town, Mithila, an ancient cultural region of North India that lies between the lower range of the Himalayas and the Ganges river. Kameshwar Choupal
Kameshwar Choupal (24 April 1956 – 7 February 2025) was an Indian politician who was a member of the Bihar Legislative Council. He was elected to Bihar Council in 2002. He is well known for laying the first brick of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 9 November 1989. He received the status of first ''Kar Sevak'' by the organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Choupal contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Supaul, Bihar on the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. He died in Delhi on 7 February 2025, at the age of 68. Early life Kameshwar Choupal was born on 24 April 1956 at Kamarail in the Supaul district of the Mithila region in Bihar, into a Dalit family. He graduated from the J N College in Madhubani. Madhubani District
Madhubani district is one of the thirty-eight districts of Bihar, India, and is a part of Darbhanga division. Its administrative headquarters are located in Madhubani. The district has an area of and has a population of 4,487,379 (as of 2011). Madhubani is the largest fish-producing district of Bihar in 2022. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) () is an Indian Right-wing politics, right-wing Hindu organisation based on Hindutva, Hindu nationalism. The VHP was founded in 1964 by M. S. Golwalkar and S. S. Bihar Legislative assembly also known as Bihar Vidhan Parishad is the upper house of the bicameral Bihar Legislature of the state of Bihar in India. Raj Darbhanga
The Darbhanga Raj, also known as Raj Darbhanga and the Khandwala dynasty, was a chieftaincy located within the Mughal province of Bihar which controlled territories, not all contiguous, that were part of the Mithila region, now divided between India and Nepal.
