Jaded (Green Day)
"Brain Stew" and "Jaded" are two songs by American rock band Green Day, released as a joint single. The songs are transitional—"Brain Stew" segues directly into "Jaded". They appear as the 10th and 11th tracks on the group's fourth studio album, ''Insomniac'', and were released as the album's third and final single in April 1996. One of the B-sides has an early version of the song "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)", with the song having a more sarcastic tone than the original. There is also a limited-edition CD single of the two songs in which the disc is in the shape of a brain. Upon its release, "Brain Stew" / "Jaded" peaked at number three on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart, number one on the Canadian ''RPM'' Alternative 30, and number 28 on the UK Singles Chart. Green Day
Green Day is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Rodeo, California, in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, with drummer Tré Cool joining in 1990. In 1994, their major-label debut ''Dookie'', released through Reprise Records, became a breakout success and eventually shipped over 20 million copies in the U.S. Green Day has been credited with reigniting mainstream interest in punk rock. Before taking its current name in 1989, the band was named Blood Rage, then Sweet Children. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph record, vinyl records and Compact cassette, cassettes, and the terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side of a Single (music), single usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay, with the aim of it becoming a hit record. 2001 Clear Channel Memorandum
Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, Clear Channel Communications (now iHeartMedia), the largest owner of radio stations in the United States, circulated an internal memorandum containing a list of songs that program directors felt were "lyrically questionable" to play in the aftermath of the attacks. During the time immediately after the attacks, many television and radio stations altered normal programming in response to the events, and the rumor spread that Clear Channel and its subsidiaries had established a list of songs with lyrics Clear Channel deemed "questionable." The list was not an explicit demand not to play the songs listed, but rather a suggestion that they "might not want to play these songs." The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000.
