Jacques Bonsergent () is a metro station, station of the Paris Métro, serving Paris Métro Line 5, line 5 and located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. History The station was opened on 17 December 1906 as the northern terminus of Line 5 from Place d'Italie (Paris Métro), Place d'Italie, replacing the temporary terminus of Quai de la Rapée (Paris Métro), Quai de la Rapée, before the line was extended to Gare du Nord on 15 November 1907. The stations original name of Lancry is after proximity to the Rue de Lancry and its former local owner, Sieur Lancry. The station kept that name until 1946. The current name refers to the Place Jacques Bonsergent, named after Jacques Bonsergent, an engineer who became the first Parisian (and possibly first French) civilian executed by the German occupation in 1940. 10th Arrondissement Of Paris
The 10th arrondissement of Paris (''Xe arrondissement'') is one of the 20 Arrondissements of Paris, arrondissements of the capital city of France. In spoken French, the arrondissement is referred to as ''le dixième'' (; "the tenth", formally ''le dixième arrondissement de Paris''). In 2020, it had a population of 83,459. The arrondissement, called Entrepôt (warehouse), is situated on the Rive Droite, right bank of the Seine, River Seine. The Bois de Vincennes (), located on the eastern edge of Paris, France, is the largest public park in the city. It was created between 1855 and 1866 by Emperor Napoleon III. The park is next to the Château de Vincennes, a former residence of the Kings of France. Noctilien
Noctilien is the night bus service in Paris and its agglomeration. It is managed by the Île-de-France Mobilités (formerly the STIF), the Île-de-France regional public transit authority, and operated by RATP (with 32 lines) and Transilien SNCF (with 21 lines). It replaced the previous '' Noctambus'' service on the night of 20/21 September 2005, providing for a larger number of lines than before and claiming to be better adapted to night-time transport needs. Parisine
Parisine is a typeface that was created by Jean-François Porchez and is distributed by Typofonderie. The typeface is used in Paris Métro, tramways and buses and the parts of RER parts that are operated by the RATP Group in Île-de-France. In 2015, the Osaka City Subway in Japan adopted Parisine as the Latin-character component of its new signage system, which is gradually being introduced throughout its network. Parisine The font was originally developed in 1996 as a custom typeface in Bold and Bold Italic developed for the RATP to improve signage legibility and space economy. The design was based on the proportions of Helvetica Bold but is condensed at 90%. In 1999, the font was extended to a font family for multiple uses like communication material and maps. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform, where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track. In some stations, the two side platforms are connected by a footbridge or tunnel to allow safe access to the alternate platform. Otto Edwin von Stülpnagel (16 June 1878 – 6 February 1948) was a German military commander of occupied France during the Second World War. Arrested by Allied authorities after the war, he committed suicide in prison in 1948. Career Otto von Stülpnagel was born on 16 June 1878 in Berlin. He was a member of the Stülpnagel family. He pursued a military career in keeping with his family's long tradition of military service. Commissioned in 1898 and accepted as a member of the Imperial General Staff, he received several decorations for distinguished service on the western front during World War I. Nominated for the '' Pour le Mérite'', Stülpnagel survived personnel cuts mandated by the Treaty of Versailles. Malestroit
Malestroit (; ) is a commune in the Morbihan department of Brittany in north-western France. The town is on the river Oust and part of the Nantes-Brest canal. It has several half-timbered houses. Population Tourism Malestroit is on the Nantes-Brest canal, which is no longer completely navigable. However, the section through the town is over 200 km long, and barges moor up near the centre of Malestroit. It is possible to hire a boat to explore the waterway. The nearby village of Saint-Marcel houses a museum dedicated to the Breton Resistance movement where a battle against the Nazis took place and was won by the Resistance fighters.
