Jacovce
Jacovce ( hu, Jác) is a municipality in the Topoľčany District of the Nitra Region, Slovakia. In 2011 it had 1770 inhabitants. Jacovce is a birthplace of Slovak ice-hockey star Miro Šatan. Ladislav Jurkemik
Ladislav Jurkemik (born 20 July 1953) is a former Slovak football player and later a football manager. He played in the Czechoslovak First League for Inter Bratislava and Dukla Banská Bystrica. Jurkemik played internationally for Czechoslovakia; he played a total of 57 matches and scored 3 goals. He managed Slovakia in 2002 and 2003. Playing career Jurkemik played in his domestic Czechoslovak First League from 1973 to 1984, with two periods at Inter Bratislava interrupted by the 1980–81 season, which he spent at Dukla Banská Bystrica. He subsequently went to the Swiss league, where he played for FC St. Gallen. Jurkemik was involved in three major tournaments as a player of Czechoslovakia. He was a participant in the 1976 UEFA European Championship, where Czechoslovakia won the gold medal, in the 1980 UEFA European Championship, where Czechoslovakia won the bronze medal, and at the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Topoľčany District (''okres Topoľčany'') is a district in the Nitra Region of western Slovakia. It borders Nové Mesto nad Váhom District and Bánovce nad Bebravou District in the north, Piešťany District and Hlohovec District in the west, Partizánske District in the east and Nitra District and Zlaté Moravce District in the south. Miroslav Šatan
Miroslav Šatan (; born 22 October 1974) is a Slovak former professional ice hockey right winger, who played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), five in the Tipos Extraliga, and three in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career Pre-NHL In 1991–92, Šatan played for the local HC Topoľčany and did remarkably well, as he scored 30 goals and had 22 assists in just 31 games. He then graduated to the senior division within the same year. When he became 18, he joined Dukla Trenčín rather than enter compulsory army service for Slovakia (which stopped in 2006). He played there for the 1992–93 and 1993–94 seasons. Edmonton Oilers Šatan was drafted 111th overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. The Nitra Region ( sk, Nitriansky kraj, ; hu, Nyitrai kerület) is one of the administrative regions of Slovakia. It was first established in 1923 and from 1996 exists in its present borders. It consists of seven districts ( sk, okres) and 354 municipalities, from which 16 have a town status. The economy of the region focuses more on agriculture, than in other Slovak regions.
