Jacob Middleton Jr.
Jacob Middleton Jr. (born ) is a United States Space Force Brigadier general (United States), brigadier general who serves as the commander of United States Space Forces – Europe and Africa. He previously served as deputy director for operations of the Joint Staff. He has also commanded the Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado from 2018 to 2021. Education Middleton received a B.A. in psychology degree in 1991 from Augusta State University. In 1997, he received an M.A. degree in public administration from Troy University. He also received an M.A. degree in management, organizational management in 2007 from the George Washington University. Squadron Officer School
Squadron Officer School (SOS), is a 5.5-week-long Professional Military Education (PME) course for U.S. Air Force and Space Force Captains, Department of the Air Force Civilian (DAFC) equivalents and International Officers. It fulfills the U.S. Air Force's requirement for primary developmental education (PDE). SOS is based at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, and the in-residence version of the course is taught there. SOS is an element of the Air University. SOS 2.0 Online was launched in 2017, and takes approximately 6 months to complete based on the required courses. Unlike the more senior courses at Air University (e.g., Air Command and Staff College and Air War College), "in residence" attendance at SOS does not include any U.S. officers from sister services, although those officers are eligible to take SOS via correspondence or distance learning formats. 742nd Missile Squadron
The 742d Missile Squadron is a United States Air Force unit stationed at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. The squadron is equipped with the LGM-30G Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, with a mission of nuclear deterrence. The squadron was first activated as the 742d Bombardment Squadron in June 1943. After training in the United States with the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bombers, the 742d deployed to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, participating in the strategic bombing campaign against Germany. It earned two Distinguished Unit Citations for its combat operations. Following V-E Day, it remained in Italy without its flight echelon until inactivating in September 1945 The squadron was activated in the reserve in 1947, but apparently was not fully manned or equipped before inactivating in June 1949 and transferring its resources to another unit.
