Jacob Ajetunmobi
Jacob Ademola Ajetunmobi (June 1948 – 14 December 2020) was a Nigerian Anglican bishop. He was the first bishop of the Diocese of Ibadan South from 1999 to 2018. Ajetunmobi was born in 1948 in Ogbagi-Akoko in Western Nigeria to a chief who was a polygamist and to a princess from a neighbouring tribe. After his school education, he started studying agriculture at the School of Agriculture in Akure, but, having become a Christian at a Scripture Union camp in 1966, he gave up agriculture studies and enrolled in the Igbaja Seminary, run by the Sudan Interior Mission. On graduating from Igbaja, he studied at the London Bible College. Returning to Nigeria he then taught in schools and colleges and worked for Scripture Union. He was ordained both deacon and priest in 1983. Initially he was Chaplain to Bishop G.I.O. Olajide, the Bishop of Ilesa. In 1988 he moved again to London, as Chaplain to the Nigerian Chaplaincy. Akure
Akure is a city in south-western Nigeria. It is the capital and largest city of Ondo State. The city had a population of 403,000 as at the 2006 population census. History Pre 1914 Rock engravings dating back to the Mesolithic period, have been discovered on the outskirts of Akure. Also the oldest ''Homo sapiens'' fossil ever found in West Africa thus far was discovered there, dating back to around 11,000 years ago. Scripture Union (SU) is an international, interdenominational, evangelical Christian organization. It was founded in 1867, and works in partnership with individuals and churches across the world. The organization's stated aim is to use the Bible to inspire children, young people and adults to know God. Igbaja
Igbaja is a community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria, at an elevation of 349 m. It is about 40 km southeast of Ilorin, and is in Igbomina country. The Ilorin Provincial Gazetteer (1918) dates the settlement of Igbaja as late 17th or early 18th century, while the Igbaja District Gazetteer (1933–35) puts it about 1750 AD. The wet season lasts from April to October, with 50–100 cm of rain. In the dry season from November to March there is 0–13 cm of rain. The natural landscape is Southern Guinea savanna, or open woodland. The soils are deep and red, often with clayey subsoils, suitable for pottery making. Sudan Interior Mission
SIM is an international, interdenominational Evangelical Christian mission organization. It was established in 1893 by its three founders, Walter Gowans and Rowland Bingham of Canada and Thomas Kent of the United States. The initials originally stood for "Soudan Interior Mission," Soudan being an older spelling of the Sudan region of West Africa. After various name changes and mergers, the mission simply goes by "SIM" today. In French-speaking countries it is known as "Société Internationale Missionnaire." SIM is also a member of the Forum of Bible Agencies International. The London School of Theology (LST), formerly London Bible College, is a British interdenominational evangelical theological college based in Northwood within the London Borough of Hillingdon. History During the 1930s A. J. Vereker, secretary of the Crusaders' Union, Sir John Laing and others set up a meeting to propose a Bible college in London which would provide high quality academic training for Christian teachers in the City. The initial meeting, in May 1939, was followed by a larger one with greater representation, which set the vision and plans for the college. Subsequent meetings that year, which included preacher Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd Jones, drew up a report which included an outline of the fundamentals of the college.
