Jackton Ojwang’
Jackton is a small village lying just on the western periphery of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, on the B764 road (otherwise known as the 'Eaglesham Road') connecting it to the village of Eaglesham. It is also adjacent to Thorntonhall, and the two villages share a newsletter, the ''Peel News'', derived from the name of the road connecting the two. The settlement, as well as an area of surrounding farmland going as far as Lindsayfield was designated as a Community Growth Area for East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire's Local Development Plan 2. The development of new build housing, additional retail locations, and a new primary school are planned and under construction as of March 2023. Jackton lies approximately above sea level. It is also the site of one of the two Scottish Training Centres for Police Scotland. East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which was first used in the general election of 2005. It replaced East Kilbride and some of Clydesdale, and it elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat was subject to boundary changes which included the loss of Lesmahagow. East Kilbride (Gaelic: ''Cille Bhrìghde an Ear'') is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament ( Holyrood) covering part of the council area of South Lanarkshire. East Kilbride (; ), sometimes referred to as EK, is the largest town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland, and the country's sixth-largest locality by population. Historically a small village, it was designated Scotland's first "new town" on 6 May 1947. Eaglesham
Eaglesham ( or , or ; ; ) is a village in East Renfrewshire, Scotland, situated about south of Glasgow, southeast of Newton Mearns and south of Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, Clarkston, and southwest of East Kilbride. The 2011 census revealed that the village had 3,114 occupants, down 13 from the 2001 census (3,127). Eaglesham is distinctive in being built around the Orry, a triangular park area of common land about in length, interspersed with trees and divided in the centre by the Eaglesham Burn. Thorntonhall (, ) is an affluent village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, lying around to the south of Glasgow, and around west of East Kilbride. The village lies just east of the boundary of East Renfrewshire, close to Waterfoot and Jackton. In 2011, a street in Thorntonhall (Bowmore Crescent) was identified as having one of the most expensive average house prices within the Scottish property market, with an average house price of £908,000. History Thorntonhall has a history reflecting the social changes of the last 400 years and in particular the last 120 years. It was originally just a farm that had added to it some major buildings. Lindsayfield
Lindsayfield is a residential area in the new town of East Kilbride, South Lanarksire, Scotland where construction started from the 1990s onwards. The south western area of the development, running alongside Shields Road, sits close to the border with East Renfrewshire. Overview Lindsayfield is situated next to the districts of Jackton and Greenhills on the southern flank of the town. The main road around the edge of Lindsayfield extends offering a drive to the villages of Auldhouse, Strathaven, Chapelton and Leaburn. Thorntonhall railway station is a railway station serving the village of Thorntonhall, Thorntonhall, South Lanarkshire. Hairmyres railway station is a railway station between the Hairmyres, East Kilbride, Hairmyres and Peel Park, East Kilbride, Peel Park areas of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Greater Glasgow, Scotland.
