Jack Whyman
Jack Whyman (1924 or 1925 – 2011) was a British trade union leader. Whyman joined the Amalgamated Engineering Union The Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU) was a major United Kingdom, British trade union. General Council Of The Trades Union Congress
The General Council of the Trades Union Congress is an elected body which is responsible for carrying out the policies agreed at the annual British Trade Union Congresses (TUC). Organisation The council has 56 members, all of whom must be proposed by one of the unions affiliated to the TUC. Unions with more members receive an automatic allocation of seats, in proportion to their membership. Smaller unions propose candidates for eleven elected seats. In addition, there are separately elected seats: four for women, three for black workers, at least one of whom must be a woman, and one each for young workers, workers with disabilities, and LGBT workers. The Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions (CSEU), often known as the Confed is a trade union confederation in the United Kingdom. Ken Gill
Ken Gill (30 August 1927 – 23 May 2009) was a British trade union leader. He was the General Secretary of the Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Section (TASS), from 1974 to 1988, when it merged with ASTMS to form the Manufacturing, Science and Finance Union (MSF). He was General Secretary of the MSF, 1988–1992, initially jointly with Clive Jenkins. A committed Communist, he was elected to the TUC General Council in 1974, and was a prominent figure in the militant industrial relations of the 1970s. From 1981 to 1987 he was a member of the Commission for Racial Equality. John Weakley
John Weakley (20 March 1940 – 23 January 1995) was a British trade unionist, who became acting president of the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union. Born in Swansea, Weakley completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker with British Aerospace in Bristol, and joined the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU). He became a shop steward at Westland Helicopters, andslowly came to prominence in the union, associated with its right wing. In the mid-1970s, he took the union's president, Hugh Scanlon, to the High Court, successfully arguing that Scanlon should not use his casting vote in favour of the left-wing of the union's executive. Following his success in court, the right gained control of leading positions in the AEU, starting with John Boyd's 1975 election as general secretary.
