Jack Narz
John Lawrence Narz Jr. (November 13, 1922 – October 15, 2008) was an American radio personality, television host, and singer. Early years Narz was born to John and Ado Narz, in Louisville, Kentucky, of Lithuanian descent, along with sister Mary and younger brother James Edward (1927–2020). James later changed his name to Tom Kennedy and went on to have his own career as a television host. Narz served as a military fighter pilot during World War II, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for missions flown in the China-Burma theater. Career Radio After his military service, Narz attended the Don Martin School of Radio Arts in Hollywood, where he received his broadcasting diploma in June 1947. He worked as an announcer at California radio stations KXO-AM, El Centro; KWIK-FM, Burbank; KIEV, Glendale; and KLAC-AM, Los Angeles. ''Space Patrol'' is an American science fiction adventure series set in the 30th century that was originally aimed at juvenile audiences via television, radio, and comic books. It was broadcast on ABC from March 1950 to February 1955. It soon developed a sizable adult audience, and by 1954 the program consistently ranked in the top 10 shows broadcast on a Saturday. Premise The stories followed the 30th-century adventures of Commander-in-Chief Buzz Corry ( Ed Kemmer) of the United Planets Space Patrol and his young sidekick Cadet Happy ( Lyn Osborn), as they faced interplanetary villains with diabolical schemes. Monty Hall (born Monte Halparin; August 25, 1921 – September 30, 2017) was a Canadian-American radio and television show host who moved to the United States in 1955 to pursue a career in broadcasting. After working as a radio newsreader and sportscaster, Hall returned to television in the U.S., where his focus was now on hosting game shows. ''The Price Is Right'' is an American television game show where contestants compete by guessing the prices of merchandise to win cash and prizes. A 1972 revival by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman of their 1956–1965 show of the same name, the new version added many distinctive gameplay elements. Contestants are selected from the studio audience. When the announcer calls their name, they use the show's famous catchphrase, "Come on down!" The program premiered September 4, 1972, on CBS. The 1950s quiz show scandals were a series of scandals involving the producers and contestants of several popular American television quiz shows. These shows' producers secretly gave assistance to certain contestants in order to prearrange the shows' outcomes while still attempting to deceive the public into believing that these shows were objective and fair competitions. Producers fixed the shows sometimes with the free consent of contestants and out of various motives: improving ratings, greed, and the lack of regulations prohibiting such conspiracy in game show productions. The scandals took place at a time when television was still emerging as a medium and had yet to become the established cultural force in American society that it is today. ''The Bob Crosby Show'' can refer to either of two television programs in the United States. One was broadcast in the afternoons on CBS September 14, 1953 – August 30, 1957. The other was broadcast in prime time on NBC June 14, 1958 – September 6, 1958, as a summer replacement for Perry Como's show.
