Jack Holland (boxer)
Rhule "Jack" Holland (c. 1909 – May 9, 1933) was an American professional boxer and college football player. He died of injuries suffered during a boxing match. Tulane University Holland was a prominent end for the Tulane Green Wave football teams of Tulane University, playing alongside College Football Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Dalrymple. He played in the Tulane All Star football game January 1, 1933. Following his death, his team number at Tulane (21) was retired for five years in his honor. Football 1929 Holland was a member of the undefeated Southern Conference champion 1929 team. He was selected All-Southern. Boxing Holland turned to professional boxing with the intent to earn money to finish his Tulane degree, with the ultimate intent of coaching high school football. Jack Holland (politician)
John Joseph "Jack" Holland (3 September 1877 – 25 December 1955) was an Australian politician. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1925 to 1955, representing the electorates of Flemington (1925-1945), Footscray (1945-1955) and Flemington again (1955). Holland was born in Carlton to police officer Thomas Holland and Johanna Quigley. He worked as a fitter and then as an electrical engineer for the Postmaster-General's Department. He was a life member of both the Australian Postal Electricians Union, serving as its secretary and president at various times, as well as its delegate to the Melbourne Trades Hall Council and the Victorian Agricultural Implement Union, of which he had been president. He was also secretary of the Flemington branch of the Labor Party from 1911 to 1932, served on the boards of a number of local co-operatives and on the Victorian Public Servants Credit Co-operative board for 35 years. John Henry Holland (1861–1898) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Notts County. Early career Jack Holland was a Bulwell tramcar conductor who began with Notts County two seasons prior to their entry into the Football League. In both seasons he was virtually an automatic choice in goal, this despite a shaky start that included consecutive defeats of 14–0 against Preston North End and 8–0 against Accrington. Season 1888–89 Jack Holland, playing in goal, made his League debut on 15 September 1888 at Anfield, the then home of Everton. Notts County lost to the home team 2–1. Jack Holland (4 June 1947 – 14 May 2004) was an Irish journalist, novelist, and poet who built a reputation chronicling "The Troubles" in his native Northern Ireland. He published articles, short stories, four novels, and seven works of non-fiction, mostly dealing with the politics and cultural life of Northern Ireland. His last book, ''Misogyny: The World's Oldest Prejudice'', was something of a departure from his usual writings, and its original publisher abandoned the finished manuscript shortly after Holland's death, which followed a brief struggle with cancer. However, the book was later published posthumously by a different publisher.
