Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey in North America) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an Ice rink, ice skating rink with Ice hockey rink, lines and markings specific to the sport. Todd Harvey
Todd Douglas Ross Harvey (born February 17, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward and current director of amateur scouting for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). During his playing career, he played for the Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, and Edmonton Oilers. He was selected in the first round (9th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Stars, following a successful junior career in which he represented Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. Career Harvey was born in Hamilton, Ontario and grew up in the small town of Sheffield. He played minor hockey for the Beverly Merchants of the OMHA before playing Jr.B. hockey at age 14 for the Cambridge Winterhawks. The 1990–91 OHL season was the 11th season of the Ontario Hockey League. Sixteen teams each played 66 games. The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds won the J. Ross Robertson Cup, defeating the Oshawa Generals. The Detroit Compuware Ambassadors are granted a franchise. Expansion/Realignment Detroit Compuware Ambassadors On December 11, 1989, the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors were approved to join the league for the 1990–91 season as an expansion team. The club was owned by former Windsor Compuware Spitfires owner Peter Karmanos. The club was the first United States, American based team in the OHL, and would play in the city of Detroit, Michigan, Detroit. The Compuware Ambassadors home was Cobo Arena, which was previously the home of the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association, NBA from 1960 to 1978, and the Michigan Stags, who played in the World Hockey Association during the 1974-75 WHA season, 1974-75 season. Detroit Compuware Ambassadors
The Detroit Compuware Ambassadors were an elite Midget Major ice hockey team playing in the Tier I Elite Hockey League. The Ambassadors previously had separate franchises that competed in the North American Hockey League and in the Ontario Hockey League for two seasons from 1990 to 1992. The Compuware Ambassadors were based in Detroit, Michigan. History The Detroit Compuware Hockey organization was founded in the mid 1970s by Compuware owner/president Peter Karmanos and his partner Thomas Thewes. The organization grew to include all age levels of hockey including Junior 'A'. The Junior 'A 'team competed in the North American Hockey League. Some of its alumni include Eric Lindros, Pat LaFontaine, Mike Modano, Al Iafrate, David Legwand, Derian Hatcher and Doug Weight. Pat Peake
Patrick Michael Peake (born May 28, 1973) is an American former professional ice hockey forward. Peake was drafted 14th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Peake played 134 career NHL games, scoring 28 goals and 41 assists for 69 points. Peake suffered several serious injuries in his short career; by the end of the 1997–98 NHL season, in which he played only one game, he had retired. Playing career As a youth, Peake played in the 1987 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Detroit. Junior Peake was an up-and-coming star during his junior career. Playing in the North American Hockey League in 1989-1990, he scored 33 goals and assisted on 44 goals in just 34 games. Eric Lindros
Eric Bryan Lindros (; born February 28, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Oshawa Generals prior to being chosen first overall in the 1991 NHL entry draft by the Quebec Nordiques. He refused to play for the Nordiques and was eventually traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in June 1992 in exchange for a package of players and draft picks including Peter Forsberg. During his OHL career, Lindros led the Generals to a Memorial Cup victory in 1990. Prior to being drafted in 1991, Lindros captured the Red Tilson Trophy as the Most Outstanding Player in the OHL, and also was named the CHL Player of the Year. Lindros began his National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Flyers during the 1992–93 season. He was an exemplary power forward, and averaged more than a point per game. Kingston Raiders
The Kingston Raiders was a short-lived name used by a Kingston, Ontario, Canada-based major junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League for the 1988–89 season only. The team played out of the Kingston Memorial Centre. Team history When the Kingston Canadians were sold in 1988, the club's name was changed to Kingston Raiders for the 1988–89 season by the new owner, Lou Kazowski. After a dismal season in 1987–88, he hoped that the team could acquire the "tough" image of the Los Angeles Raiders football team by adopting their name and new black and silver uniforms, similar to those recently adopted by the NHL's Los Angeles Kings. In their only season of existence, the Raiders finished 7th in the Leyden division and did not qualify for the playoffs. The team's coach was Larry Mavety. Drake Berehowsky
Drake Berehowsky (born January 3, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He is best known for his time in the National Hockey League (NHL), where he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks and Phoenix Coyotes. He is the former head coach of the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. He had two stints as the team's head coach, first coaching the Solar Bears during the 2012–13 season. Following the 2021-22 season, the Solar Bears and Berehowsky mutually agreed to part ways.
