Jack Coote
John Joseph Coote (1907–1986) was a rugby league footballer who played in the Australian competition, the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL). A junior of the Eastern Suburbs club, Coote was the father of Australian Rugby League Immortal Ron Coote. Playing career A forward, Coote played in some of the great Easts' sides of the mid-thirties, highlighted by an appearance in the 1936 premiership decider. Coote also won two further premierships with Eastern Suburbs in 1935 and 1937. Coote played five first grade seasons with Eastern Suburbs: 1929, 1930, 1935, 1936 and 1937. Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club, known as the Sydney Roosters are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs (Sydney), Eastern Suburbs. The club competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. The Roosters have won fifteen New South Wales Rugby League premiership, New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and National Rugby League titles, and several other competitions. 1937 NSWRFL Season
The 1937 New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership was the 30th season of the Sydney, New South Wales-based top-grade rugby league club competition, Australia's first. Nine teams from across the city contested the premiership during the season, which lasted from April until June, with Eastern Suburbs being crowned champions. Season summary The 1937 season only lasted eight rounds due to the Kangaroo tour, and used a “first past the post” system to determine the premiers. There were no Finals. The second half of what would normally have been the NSWRFL season was taken up with a City Cup competition. Eastern Suburbs won their seventh Premiership going through the season undefeated – a feat achieved by teams in only five other seasons before or since. Ron Coote
Ronald Joseph Coote (born 1944) is an Australian former rugby league player. His club career was played with South Sydney and the Eastern Suburbs Roosters, with both of whom he won premierships, and he played 23 times for Australia. He is considered one of the nation's finest footballers of the 20th century, and was inducted as the 14th Immortal in 2024. The Ron Coote Cup, contested annually by South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Sydney Roosters is named in his honour - his entire club career having been played at these two clubs. Condobolin, New South Wales
Condobolin is a town in the west of the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia, on the Lachlan River. At the , Condobolin had a population of 3,185. History Prior to European settlement, the area was inhabited by the Wiradjuri people. Australian Heritage magazine suggested that Condobolin evolved from the "Aboriginal" word Cundabullen – shallow crossing. The magazine stated that the crossing was located a short distance below the junction of the Lachlan River and the Goobang Creek. Others suggest that the town's name from the Wiradjuri word for 'hop bush', or 'hop brush'. The area was explored by John Oxley in 1817 and Thomas Mitchell in 1836. The 'Condoublin' run was established by 1844. There had been squatters in the district since Mitchell's 1836 exploration.
