Jac Arama (born Jacques Arama on 20 February 1968 in Richmond, London, UK) is a TV producer and talent agent of French descent, based in London UK. Previously he was a high profile professional poker player. Arama appeared on TV regularly, including Late Night Poker and the World Poker Championship (which he co produced). He has amassed over $700,000 in tournament winnings and was known for his aggressive playing style which is referred to by poker commentators as ''Jac Attack''. He was also known for his large range of sunglasses (over 300 pairs). The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is a series of poker tournaments held annually in Paradise, Nevada, and since 2004, sponsored by Caesars Entertainment. It dates its origins to 1970, when Benny Binion invited seven of the best-known poker players to the Horseshoe Casino for a single tournament, with a set start and stop time, and a winner determined by a secret ballot of the seven players. 2007 World Series Of Poker
The 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) began on June 1, 2007. The $10,000 ( US) no-limit Texas hold 'em Main Event began on July 6 and was completed on the morning of July 18th. All events were held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, by Harrah's Entertainment, which has run the annual event since its purchase from the Binion family in 2004. For the first time players began each event with double the amount of chips as the buy-in. This means that players in the Main Event started with 20,000 chips. The blind structure has also been increased and some blind levels removed but slowed to allow for more play. In addition to the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, which was first played at the 2006 World Series of Poker, this year there were 2 additional H.O.R.S.E. events with lower buy-ins ($2,500 and $5,000). Paul Phillips (poker Player)
Paul Phillips (born August 9, 1972, in San Francisco, California) is an American software developer, entrepreneur and poker player. Programming Phillips wrote the Boa web server while attending the University of California, San Diego, but no longer maintains it. In 1994, one of his colleagues at college discovered he had an interest in blackjack and subsequently introduced him to poker. In 1996, he became Chief Technical Officer for Go2Net. This success is the basis of his nickname Dot-com. Phillips subsequently started working on the Scala compiler and standard library. He is co-founder of Akka.io (then known as Typesafe, later known as Lightbend), a company specializing in the production and support of an open-source platform for software development based on Scala and Akka. Johnson "John" Juanda (born 8 July 1971) is an Indonesian professional poker player of Chinese descent based in Tokyo, Japan. He has won five World Series of Poker bracelets. Lowball (poker)
Lowball or low poker is a variant of poker in which the normal ranking of hands is inverted. Several variations of lowball poker exist, differing in whether aces are treated as high cards or low cards, and whether straights and flushes are used. Low-poker ranking Lowball inverts the normal ranking of poker hands. There are three methods of ranking low hands, called ace-to-five low, deuce-to-seven low, and ace-to-six low. The 'ace-to-five' method is most common. A sub-variant within this category is 'high-low poker', in which the highest and lowest hands split the pot, with the highest hand taking any odd chips if the pot does not divide equally. Lucienne "Lucy" Rokach is an English professional poker player from Stoke-on-Trent. She was born in Cairo, Egypt and is now regarded as one of the top female players in Europe. She also commentated on the popular ''Late Night Poker'' television series with Jesse May during its fourth season, and had a 3rd-place finish in the series 6 grand final (the highest-ever finish for a female player in a ''Late Night Poker'' grand final.)
