Jaal (1967 Film)
''Jaal'' is a 1967 Hindi suspense-thriller film directed by Moni Bhattacharjee. The film stars Biswajeet and Mala Sinha in lead roles. Plot Inspector Shankar is assigned to investigate the mysterious death of Sunder Singh, whose ship wrecks on a stormy night. Sunder was off to marry Sheila, the daughter of his mother's childhood friend who had long since died. Sheila was raised by her father, who dies of a heart attack when he learns of Sunder's death. Sunder's mother decides to take Sheila to live with her. In denial of her son's death, Sunder's mother keeps doing various acts in madness. She keeps serving food for Sunder, talks with his photos, and keeps feeling that her son has returned. Meanwhile, Shankar and Sheila fall in love. But in her madness, Sunder's mother starts preparations of Sunder's wedding with Sheila. Sunder's face-burnt body is found and the mystery continues whether his death was an accident or a murder. Moni Bhattacharjee
Moni Bhattacharjee was an Indian film director and screenwriter of the 1960s who directed Hindi language films. Career Bhattacharjee started as an assistant to Bimal Roy on many classic films of the 1950s. After the success of the film ''Madhumati'' (1958), Bimal Roy asked him to direct ''Usne Kaha Tha'', which Roy produced under Bimal Roy Productions label, thus starting Bhattacharjee's career as a fully fledged director. However, ''Usne Kaha Tha'' itself was a "none too smooth takeoff". Raja Mehdi Ali Khan (23 September 1915 – 29 July 1966) was an Indian poet, writer and a lyricist. Early life and career Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was born in 1915 into a Punjabi Rajput family of the Janjua clan, Mehdi Ali lost his father when he was four. His mother Hubia Khanum who was the sister of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, got him educated and he completed his basic education at Islamia College (Lahore). As he grew up, Mehdi Ali started working at the editorial staff of '' Phool'' and '' Tehzeeb-e-Niswan'' Urdu magazineas from Lahore. Then he joined as a writer at the All India Radio, Delhi in 1942. Anand Bakshi (21 July 1930 – 30 March 2002) was an Indian poet and lyricist. He won Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist 4 times during his career. He wrote over 6000 film songs in more than 300 films. Early life Anand Bakshi (Bakshi Anand Prakash Vaid) was born in Rawalpindi in the Punjab Province of British India (now in Punjab, Pakistan), on 21 July 1930 into a Mohyal Brahmin family of the Vaid clan.
