JX Advanced Metals
is a Japanese non-ferrous metal company partially owned by ENEOS Holdings. Its activities include resource development, smelting, refining, and recycling. The firm holds a global market share of approximately 60% in sputtering targets, a key material used in semiconductor manufacturing. The origins of JX Advanced Metals trace back to the 1905 opening of the Hitachi Mine by Fusanosuke Kuhara. In 1929, Nissan Group's mining division split off to form Japan Mining Co., which later evolved through industry reorganisations to become part of Nippon Mining Holdings (Nippon Mining Holdings, Inc.). In 2010, Nippon Mining Holdings and Nippon Oil merged to create JX Holdings, now known as ENEOS Holdings, bringing what would become JX Advanced Metals under its umbrella. Fusanosuke Kuhara
was an entrepreneur, politician and cabinet minister in the pre-war Empire of Japan. Biography Kuhara was born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture into a family of '' sake'' brewers. His brother was the founder of Nippon Suisan Kaisha and his uncle Fujita Densaburō was the founder of the Fujita zaibatsu. He studied in 1885 at the Tokyo Commercial School (the predecessor of Hitotsubashi University) and went on to graduate from Keio University. After graduation, he joined the Morimura-gumi, but on the recommendation of ex- Chōshū politicians Inoue Kaoru, he joined his uncle’s company, the Fujita-gumi (current Dowa Holdings), and in 1891 was assigned management of the Kosaka mine in Kosaka, Akita, one of the largest lead, copper and zinc mines in Japan. Nissan Group
, formerly Nissan zaibatsu, was a group of companies and Japan's most powerful business groupings. Founded in 1928 by Yoshisuke Aikawa, the group was originally a holding company created as an offshoot of ''Kuhara Mining Co.'' Dowa Holdings
is a Japanese nonferrous metals manufacturer. The company is a component of the Nikkei 225 stock index. History Fujita-gumi, the forerunner of DOWA, was established by three brothers from Yamaguchi prefecture in 1881. The brothers had personal connections with influential members of the government, so in 1884 they bought the Kosaka mine, from which they expanded their business into various fields, centered on the coal mining business. After the purchase, Fujita-gumi increased its capital and invested heavily in skilled labor and equipment. By 1888, the Kosaka mine became Japan's top producer of silver. Yoshisuke Aikawa
was a Japanese entrepreneur, businessman, and politician, noteworthy as the founder and first president of the Nissan ''zaibatsu'' (1931–1945), one of Japan's most powerful business conglomerates around the time of the Second World War. Biography Aikawa was born in what is now part of Yamaguchi city, Yamaguchi Prefecture. His mother was the niece of Meiji period '' genrō'' Inoue Kaoru. He graduated from the engineering department of Tokyo Imperial University in 1903 and went to work for Shibaura Seisakusho, the forerunner of Toshiba.
