JVC Force (also rendered J.V.C. F.O.R.C.E) was an American hip hop group from Islip, New York. Background and history Composed of DJ Curt Cazal (Curtis Andre Small) and the emcees AJ Rok (AJ Woodson) and B-Luv (William Taylor), JVC Force is best known for the single "Strong Island," which became an underground hit during the 1980s. JVC Force is a backronym standing for "Justified by Virtue of Creativity For Obvious Reasons Concerning Entertainment". According to Woodson, "the letters didn't actually stand for anything in the beginning. JVC was the name of Curt's crew I believe. B-Boy thought we might get sued by JVC Electronics so our first release has the named spelled J.V.C. F.O.R.C.E." Central Islip, New York
Central Islip is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) within the Town of Islip in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 34,450 at the 2010 census. History and overview Prior to the arrival of European settlers, the Secatogue tribe of Algonquin native-American people lived in the area now known as Central Islip. In 1842, the Long Island Rail Road's eastward expansion reached the area, and the Suffolk County Station was opened up. The Suffolk County Station, became the commercial center for housing. With that being done the name Central Islip was thus born, and applied to a new station built in 1873 further to the east. The modern Central Islip station is in a different location from all of its predecessors. In 1889, what became the Central Islip Psychiatric Center opened. By 1955, it housed over 10,000 patients. Grand Central Records was an independent record label based in the Northern Quarter (Manchester), Northern Quarter of Manchester, England. It was started in 1995 by DJ Mark Rae (who, along with Steve Christian makes up the duo Rae & Christian). Rae started out working as manager of the Fat City Records' store (which is now also a record label). The two labels maintained a close relationship, co-hosting club nights including ''Friends and Family''. Grand Central also had a digital sub-label, GC3. Rae & Christian are an English production duo, consisting of Mark Rae and Steve Christian. They are also founders of the Grand Central Records label.
