Juno (musical)
''Juno'' is a musical with music and lyrics by Marc Blitzstein and book by Joseph Stein, based closely on the 1924 play '' Juno and the Paycock'' by Seán O'Casey. The story centers on the disintegration of an Irish family in Dublin in the early 1920s, during the Irish War of Independence. Juno is a hardworking matriarch who strives to hold her family together in the face of war, betrayal, and her worthless husband's drinking. The original production opened on Broadway in 1959 and closed after only 16 performances. Its somber tone did not please the critics, who were disappointed that its stars, particularly Shirley Booth, did not have an opportunity to play comedy. The score and original cast album have found some praise. Several revivals have been staged, but none has met with great success. Background Despite light moments, the musical, even more than the satiric play, is essentially a tragedy. Modern scholars of musical theatre consider Blitzstein and Stein's musi ... Juno (song)
"Juno" is a song by American singer Sabrina Carpenter from her sixth studio album, '' Short n' Sweet'' (2024). Carpenter wrote it with songwriter Amy Allen and its producer, John Ryan. The song became available as the album's 10th track on August 23, 2024, when it was released by Island Records. The song was later released to radio in New Zealand on December 13, 2024 as the album's fifth single. A 1980s-styled disco-influenced pop, pop rock, and indie pop song, "Juno" has lyrics about Carpenter's intense attraction to a man that makes her desire getting pregnant with his child and is named after the 2007 film of the same name. Music critics were generally positive about "Juno" and praised its production. Its sexually-charged lyrics drew more mixed reviews, with reviewers identifying it as one of Carpenter's "horniest" songs and some finding it uncomfortable. The song reached the top 20 in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and Singapore and entered the charts in some other c ... House Tornado
''House Tornado'' is the second studio album by the alternative rock band Throwing Muses. Produced by Gary Smith and engineered by Paul Q. Kolderie, it was recorded at Fort Apache Studios in Cambridge, MA. The album was released in 1988 internationally on the 4AD label, except in the United States, where it was released by Sire Records. Sire used a different album cover for its release, as the label was putting a strong promotional push behind the band, and label executives favored a picture of the band over the collage featured on the 4AD release. The 4AD CD release also features six of the seven tracks from the band's 1987 EP '' The Fat Skier''. (The seventh track was not deemed essential for CD release, as it was a re-issue of "Soul Soldier" from the band's debut album, followed by an ambient field recording of the band talking in a park.) The Sire release did not feature these six songs, and therefore these songs have never been released on CD in the US. Trac ...
