JSA All-Stars
The Justice Society of America (JSA) is a superhero team appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. It was conceived by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox during the Golden Age of Comic Books. It first appeared in ''All Star Comics'' #3 (Winter 1940–1941), making it the first team of superheroes in comic books. Its original members were Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson), Doctor Fate, Hourman (Rex Tyler), Hourman, the Jim Corrigan, Spectre, Sandman (Wesley Dodds), Sandman, Atom (Al Pratt), Atom, the Flash (Jay Garrick), Flash, Alan Scott, Green Lantern and Hawkman (Carter Hall), Hawkman. The team was initially popular, but after superhero comics waned in the late 1940s, the JSA's adventures ceased with issue #57 of the title (March 1951). Alex Ross
Nelson Alexander Ross (born January 22, 1970) is an American comic book creator, comic book writer and artist known primarily for his painted interiors, covers, and design work. He first became known with the 1994 miniseries ''Marvels'', on which he collaborated with writer Kurt Busiek for Marvel Comics. He has since done a variety of projects for both Marvel and DC Comics, such as the 1996 miniseries ''Kingdom Come (comics), Kingdom Come'', which he also cowrote. Since then he has done covers and character designs for Busiek's series ''Astro City'', and various projects for Dynamite Entertainment. His feature film work includes concept and narrative art for ''Spider-Man (2002 film), Spider-Man'' (2002) and ''Spider-Man 2'' (2004), and DVD packaging art for the M. Hawkman (Carter Hall)
Hawkman (Carter Hall) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He is the first character to use the name Hawkman. There are two separate origins of Carter Hall; the Golden Age origin and the Post-Hawkworld (or current) origin. The character made his live-action debut in the television series ''Smallville (TV series), Smallville'', played by Michael Shanks. He also appeared in the Arrowverse crossover "Heroes Join Forces" and the series ''Legends of Tomorrow'', portrayed by Falk Hentschel. Hawkman appears in the DC Extended Universe film ''Black Adam (film), Black Adam'' (2022), portrayed by Aldis Hodge. Creation Gardner F. Limited Series (comics)
In the field of comic books, and particularly in the United States, a limited series is a comics series with a predetermined number of issues. A limited series differs from an ongoing series in that the number of issues is finite and determined before production, and it differs from a one shot in that it is composed of multiple issues. The term is often used interchangeably with miniseries (mini-series) and maxiseries (maxi-series), usually depending on the length and number of issues. In Dark Horse Comics' definition of a limited series, "this term primarily applies to a connected series of individual comic books. A limited series refers to a comic book series with a clear beginning, middle and end". Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics refer to limited series of two to eleven issues as miniseries and series of twelve issues or more as maxiseries, but other publishers alternate terms. Crisis On Infinite Earths
''Crisis on Infinite Earths'' is a 1985 to 1986 American comic book fictional crossover, crossover series published by DC Comics. Written by Marv Wolfman and penciller, pencilled by George Pérez, it was first released as a 12-issue limited series (comics), limited series from April 1985 to March 1986. As the main piece of a crossover event, some plot elements were featured in tie-in issues of other publications. Since its initial publication, the series has been reprinted in various formats and editions. The idea for the series stemmed from Wolfman's desire to abandon the Multiverse (DC Comics), DC Multiverse depicted in the company's comics—which he thought was unfriendly to readers—and create a single, unified DC Universe (DCU). Infinity, Inc
Infinity, Inc. is a team of superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The first incarnation is mostly composed of the children and heirs of the Justice Society of America (JSA), making them the Society's analogue to the Teen Titans. Created by Roy Thomas, Jerry Ordway, and Mike Machlan, Infinity, Inc. first appears in '' All-Star Squadron'' #25 (September 1983). There is also an eponymous comics series starring the group that ran from March 1984 through June 1988. The second incarnation was formed by Lex Luthor. The third incarnation was formed by Steel. Publication history Roy Thomas and his wife Dann Thomas wrote the series throughout its run.
