JR Cawaling
Ricardo "JR" Cawaling Jr. (born August 15, 1987) is a Filipino basketball coach and former professional player. He was drafted 30th overall by the San Mig Coffee Mixers in the 2013 PBA draft. He is known as a three-point shooter. He was aliased "Aye Aye Captain" during his ABL years and "The Sweet Shooter" in his PBA career. College career Cawaling played for the FEU Tamaraws beginning in Season 70, when he was Rookie of the Year, beating Mike Gamboa and Kirk Long for the award. In his sophomore season, they were beaten by the De La Salle Green Archers during the Final Four and FEU missed out on a Finals trip. Cawaling returned for Season 72 off a stint with Gilas Pilipinas. He had 14 points on six of seven shooting from the field off the bench in a win over the NU Bulldogs. He scored 14 again in a 12-point win over the UP Fighting Maroons. The FEU Tamaraws and Lady Tamaraws are the varsity teams of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The university's high school varsity teams are called the ''FEU-D Baby Tamaraws, Baby Tamaraws''. History Far Eastern University was one of the founding members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) of the Philippines in 1924. UAAP Season 72 Men's Basketball Tournament
The UAAP Season 72 men's basketball tournament is the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s men's basketball tournament for the 2009–10 season. The Ateneo Blue Eagles qualified for their second consecutive Finals appearance after amassing a 13–1 elimination round record (only loss coming from last-placed UP Fighting Maroons), and beating 2006 Finals opponent UST Growling Tigers in the semifinals. Their opponent, the UE Red Warriors, finished third in the elimination round, and had to defeat the FEU Tamaraws twice in the semifinals in order to qualify. After both teams split the first two games, Ateneo went on to beat UE in Game 3, 71–58, to win their second straight title. Ateneo's Rabeh Al-Hussaini won the Finals MVP honors. The De La Salle Green Archers and Lady Archers are the varsity teams representing De La Salle University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, among other leagues. The "Green Archer" is the traditional university mascot. The UAAP Season 70 men's basketball tournament is the flagship tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball championships. The University of Santo Tomas (UST) is the season's host. The games began on July 7 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City with the resurgent De La Salle Green Archers defeating the UP Fighting Maroons in the first game. La Salle, which was suspended on the previous tournament, went on to win the championship, sweeping the UE Red Warriors 2–0 in the Finals series. The 2013 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft was an event, which allows teams to draft players from the amateur ranks. The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, or simply known as the Magnolia Hotshots, are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association. UAAP Season 70 was the 2007-08 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, which was hosted by the University of Santo Tomas. The theme of season 70 was "Winners All, Recreating the Value of Honesty through Sports" It opened on July 7, 2007 at the Araneta Coliseum. De La Salle University returned to active participation after being suspended in Season 69. 2013 ABL Season
The 2013 ASEAN Basketball League Regular Season was the fourth season of competition of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) since its establishment. A total of six teams competed in the league. The regular season began on 11 January 2013 and ended on 19 May 2013. Two teams from the previous season, inaugural champions AirAsia Philippine Patriots and Bangkok Cobras did not return for the current season. Preseason The ABL underwent contraction after it was announced that the Bangkok Cobras and the AirAsia Philippine Patriots would not be returning for the current season. The Brunei Barracudas, who were on leave for the 2012 season, were not announced to the list of active teams for 2013.
