Groningen
Groningen (; gos, Grunn or ) is the capital city and main municipality of Groningen province in the Netherlands. The ''capital of the north'', Groningen is the largest place as well as the economic and cultural centre of the northern part of the country; as of December 2021, it had 235,287 inhabitants, making it the sixth largest city/municipality of the Netherlands and the second largest outside the Randstad. Groningen was established more than 950 years ago and gained city rights in 1245. Due to its relatively isolated location from the then successive Dutch centres of power ( Utrecht, The Hague, Brussels), Groningen was historically reliant on itself and nearby regions. As a Hanseatic city, it was part of the North German trade network, but later it mainly became a regional market centre. At the height of its power in the 15th century, Groningen could be considered an independent city-state and it remained autonomous until the French era. Today Groningen is a universi ...

Student & Starter
Student & Starter (S&S or StuSta) is a local political party in the city of Utrecht. Student & Starter was founded in 2013 and is run by students and post-graduates. History As of today, S&S is only one of four successful examples of student parties being able to win seats in a municipal council in the Netherlands. The councillors of this local political party rotate their seats after one or two years in the municipal council (instead of the regular four-year term). This is done both for practical reasons, but also to introduce new ideas to the municipal council. The party is closely related to other Dutch student parties such as STIP in Delft and Student en Stad in Groningen. Ideology S&S has no specific ideology, since its members come from a broad range of ideologies and national parties. They are united by the need for a local, independent voice for young people in Utrecht.
