JD Cagulangan
Joel Diomar "JD" Cagulangan (born January 24, 2000) is a Filipino basketball player for the UP Fighting Maroons of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Early life Cagulangan first played for Northern Mindanao in the 2013 Palarong Pambansa during elementary days before being recruited by La Salle Greenhills. College and amateur career Cagulangan debuted for the De La Salle Green Archers in Season 82, but left after the season due to limited playing time and transferred to the University of the Philippines. Prior to completing his move to UP, he enrolled at St. Clare College during the pandemic, which allowed him to play 4 years for UP without doing residency for a year. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. They must also be able to adapt to what the defense is allowing and must control the pace of the game. A point guard specializes in certain skills, like other player positions in basketball. Ateneo Blue Eagles basketball is about the basketball teams of the Ateneo de Manila University. UAAP Season 84 Men's Basketball Tournament
The UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament is the basketball event of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines for its 2021–22 school year. This was the first tournament since 2019, the year before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Philippines. The women's, boys' and girls' basketball tournaments were not held this season, also due to the pandemic. UAAP Season 82 Basketball Tournaments
The UAAP Season 82 basketball tournaments were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2019–20 school year. Jensen Ilagan, the technical director of the regional ASEAN Basketball League was appointed commissioner for the season's basketball tournaments on August 6, 2019. The senior men's and women's tournaments began on September 4, 2019, while the juniors' division which was sub-hosted by National University held their opening games on November 13 for the boys' tournament and on January 11, 2020 for the newly formed girls' competition. The men's defending champions Ateneo Blue Eagles won all 14 elimination round games to become the only second men's basketball team to advance to the UAAP Finals outright (after UE in 2007). UP Fighting Maroons
The UP Fighting Maroons are the collegiate varsity teams of the University of the Philippines, primarily off Diliman, which play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere sports league in the country. The Fighting Maroons moniker, though, is more commonly used to refer to the men's basketball team (see Team monikers below). History UAAP Founding Member UP is one of the founding members (1938) of the UAAP. It was also a founding member and the originator of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the year 1924. UP was a perennial contender for the overall championship in the UAAP.
