J. D. Arteaga
Juan (J.D.) Diego Arteaga Jr. (born August 2, 1974) is an American college baseball coach and currently the head coach for the Miami Hurricanes baseball team. He previously played collegiately and was an associate coach for Miami before becoming head coach. Baseball career College career After graduating from Westminster Christian School, Arteaga chose to play baseball at the University of Miami. While at Miami, he became the program leader in wins with 43, and games started with 72. Miami reached the College World Series all four years that Arteaga played there. After his professional career ended, Arteaga received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Miami. Miami Hurricanes Baseball
The Miami Hurricanes baseball team is the college baseball program that represents the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Since 1973, the program has been one of college baseball's elite with 25 College World Series appearances, winning four national championships (1982, 1985, 1999, and 2001) and advancing to the NCAA regionals a record 44 consecutive years, from 1973 to 2016. Miami has won 29 NCAA Regional Titles, hosted 27 NCAA Regionals, and in each of their four national championship runs they were an NCAA Regional Host. Along with the university's other athletic teams, the baseball team became a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference during the 2004–05 academic year. Slade Cecconi
Slade Cecconi ( ; born June 24, 1999) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). Amateur career Cecconi attended Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, Florida, where he played baseball. As a junior in 2017, he went 6–1 with a 0.70 ERA and seventy strikeouts over forty innings. That summer, he was selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game at Wrigley Field. In 2018, his senior year, he batted .388 with six home runs. He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 38th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign, instead enrolling at the University of Miami where he played college baseball. Retiring the number of an athlete is an honor a team bestows upon a player, usually after the player has left the team, retires from the sport, or dies, by taking his or her former number out of circulation. Once a number is retired, no future player from the team may wear that number on their uniform, unless the player so-honored permits it; however, in many cases the number cannot be used at all. Cesar Carrillo (born April 29, 1984) is an American professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball with the San Diego Padres in 2009. Carrillo was a 2005 first round draft pick by the Padres, selected #18 overall. He was inducted to the University of Miami Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019, where he went 24–0 to start his career.
