J.B.S. Yadava
Lieutenant General Jay Bhagwan Singh Yadav, PVSM, AVSM, Vir Chakra, VrC, Vishisht Seva Medal, VSM is a retired General of the Indian Army. Life Yadava was commissioned into the 11th Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1964. He participated in the wars of 1965 and 1971. He was awarded the Vir Chakra for his bravery for his significant contribution in the Bangladesh Liberation War. From 1992 to 1994, he commanded the Rashtriya Rifles against militancy in the state. Lieutenant General
Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. Rashtriya Rifles
The Rashtriya Rifles (RR; ) is a counter-insurgency force in India, formed in 1990, to deal with internal security in the Jammu and Kashmir (region), Jammu and Kashmir region. 11th Gorkha Rifles
The 11th Gorkha Rifles is a Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army that was re-raised after independence. The regiment consists of primarily the Kirant Tribes Rai, Limbu, Yakkha, Sunuwar of Eastern Nepal, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Dooars of West Bengal, Sikkim and other parts of Northeast India. Though it is considered to be the youngest of the Gorkha regiments its lineage is as long as those of the 7th Gurkha Rifles and 10th Gurkha Rifles. Ati Vishisht Seva Medal
Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM, ) is a military award of India given to recognize "distinguished service of an exceptional order" to all ranks of the armed forces. The award is a peacetime equivalent of Uttam Yuddh Seva Medal, which is a Wartime Distinguished Service decoration. The award can also be granted posthumously. Subsequent awards are represented by a bar worn on the ribbon. The awardee can use "AVSM" as post-nominal letters.
