Iyad (tribe)
The Iyad () were an Arab tribe which dwelt in western lower and upper Mesopotamia and northern Syria during the 3rd–7th centuries CE. Parts of the tribe adopted Christianity in the mid-3rd century and came under the suzerainty of the Lakhmid kings of al-Hirah, vassals of the Sasanian Empire. From that time, parts of the tribe settled in towns and villages along the Euphrates, while other parts remained nomadic and dwelt in the neighboring desert steppes. The Iyad played a significant role among the Arab tribes in the Fertile Crescent before the advent of Islam, as allies and opponents of the Sasanians and later allies of the Byzantine Empire. As the early Muslim conquests were underway, parts of the tribe in lower Mesopotamia embraced Islam, while those established in northern Syria and Upper Mesopotamia fled with the retreating Byzantine armies into Anatolia. Iyad Khalil Zaki
Ayad Khalil Zaki (; 1944 – 22 August 2013) was an Iraqi military officer and commander of the Iraqi Army's IV Corps (4th Corps) during the Gulf War. A combat engineering officer in the Iraqi Army, he served as the Iraqi field commander during the Anfal Campaign. By 1990, Zaki was the Commander of the IV Corps of the Iraqi Army and was the commander of the army during the Battle of Wadi al-Batin in the Gulf War. In 1991, Zaki had been promoted to the position of Armed Forces Assistant Chief of Staff for Supplies and Logistics. In early December 1994, Zaki was one of the Generals called on by Wafiq al-Samarrai to revolt when the latter defected. However, Zaki ignored al-Samarrai's call and refused to defect to the Iraqi opposition and revolt against the government of Saddam Hussein. Iyad Sughayer
Iyad Sughayer (; born 16 October 1993 in Amman) is a Jordanian-Palestinian classical pianist. Sughayer started playing the piano at the age of five and studied at the National Music Conservatory (NMC) in Amman, Jordan. He was taught by the composer and conductor of the Amman Symphony Orchestra, Muhammed Othman Sidiq. From 2008, he studied at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, England, with Murray McLachlan and Marie-Louise Taylor. He graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music as a scholar in Manchester and from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Iyad bin Amin Madani (; born 26 April 1946) is a Saudi politician who served in different cabinet posts.
