Akiko Iwasaki
is a Sterling Professor of Immunobiology and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University. She is also a principal investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Her research interests include innate immunity, autophagy, inflammasomes, sexually transmitted infections, herpes simplex virus, human papillomavirus, respiratory virus infections, influenza infection, T cell immunity, commensal bacteria, COVID-19, and long COVID. Iwasaki was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2018. She was the 2023–2024 president of the American Association of Immunologists. is a Japanese military officer who was the 4th Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. A four-star General from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, Iwasaki became the highest-ranking military officer in Japan and ranked third in the overall command hierarchy, chain of command (after the Prime Minister of Japan, Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense (Japan), Minister of Defense). Iwasaki Yatarō
was a Japanese industrialist and financier known as the founder of Mitsubishi, one of Japan's largest conglomerates. Early life Yatarō Iwasaki was born on 9 January 1835 in Aki, Tosa Province (now Kōchi Prefecture) into a provincial farming family. Iwasaki's family had been members of the ''samurai'' warrior nobility, but his great great grandfather, Iwasaki Yajiemon () had sold off his family's ''samurai'' status in obligation of debts during the Great Tenmei famine. Iwasaki Yanosuke
was a Japanese banker, businessman, investor, and politician. After his brother Yataro's death in 1885, he succeeded as the president of Mitsubishi, one of Japan's largest conglomerates (''zaibatsu''). He served as the 4th Governor of the Bank of Japan (BOJ). Iwasaki Tsunemasa also Kan-en ( or , 1786–1842) was a Japanese botanist, zoologist and entomologist. He was also a samurai in the service of the Tokugawa shogunate. Takuji Iwasaki
was a Japanese meteorologist, biologist, ethnologist historian. He was a meteorologist at the Ishigaki Weather Station, Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture. Initially, when weather forecasting was in its infancy, he had been badly criticized by local people when his forecast of a typhoon was incorrect. Takizo Iwasaki
(September 12, 1895 - 1965) was a Japanese businessman who is credited with the invention of " shokuhin sampuru", the plastic models of menu items commonly displayed in restaurant street-front windows in Japan. Life Iwasaki was born in Gujo Hachiman Japan on September 12, 1895. He is said to have been inspired to create his first shokuhin sampuru after seeing drops of candle wax forming on the tatami mat floor of his apartment. After many months of trial and error, Iwasaki was able to produce a fake omelette, complete with simulated tomato sauce, that his wife thought was real on first glance. In 1932, his fake omelette was used in a display at a department store in Osaka. He later opened a company called Iwasaki Be-I Co., Ltd., in Gujo Hachiman, his hometown. The company still enjoys a large share, an estimated 60% of the Japanese market for shokuhin sampuru, and the town of Gujo Hachiman is now known as the food replica capital of the Japan.
