Ivy Stephenson Gunter (born June 22, 1950, in Bellevue, Ohio) is an amputee, fashion model, osteosarcoma survivor, inspirational speaker, and fitness enthusiast. She is the author of the book ''On the Ragged Edge of Drop Dead Gorgeous''. In early 1980, she was diagnosed with bone cancer in her right leg, leading to its amputation. Bellevue ( ) is a city in Erie, Huron, Seneca, and Sandusky counties in the U.S. state of Ohio, located 61 miles southwest of Cleveland and 45 miles southeast of Toledo. An osteosarcoma (OS) or osteogenic sarcoma (OGS) (or simply bone cancer) is a cancerous tumor in a bone. Specifically, it is an aggressive malignant neoplasm that arises from primitive transformed cells of mesenchymal origin (and thus a sarcoma) and that exhibits osteoblastic differentiation and produces malignant osteoid. A bone tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in bone, traditionally classified as noncancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant). Cancerous bone tumors usually originate from a cancer in another part of the body such as from lung, breast, thyroid, kidney and prostate.
