Ivar Odnes (25 May 1963 – 5 October 2018) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. He served as a deputy representative to the Parliament of Norway from Oppland during the term 2013–2017. He hails from Østre Toten Østre Toten is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Toten. The Centre Party ( no, Senterpartiet, Sp; se, Guovddášbellodat), formerly the Farmer's Party ( no, Bondepartiet, Bp), is an agrarian political party in Norway. Ideologically, the Centre Party is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, it advocates for economic nationalist and protectionist policy to protect Norwegian farmers with toll tariffs, and it supports decentralisation. It was founded in 1920 as the Farmers' Party ( no, link=no, Bondepartiet, Bp) and from its founding until 2000, the Centre Party joined only governments not led by the Labour Party, although it had previously supported a Labour government in the 1930s. Oppland is one of the 19 multi-member constituencies of the Storting, the national legislature of Norway. The constituency was established as Opland in 1921 following the introduction of proportional representation for elections to the Storting. Its spelling was settled as Oppland in 1950. Østre Toten is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Toten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lena. Oppland Politicians
Oppland is a former county in Norway which existed from 1781 until its dissolution on 1 January 2020. The old Oppland county bordered the counties of Trøndelag, Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Akershus, Oslo and Hedmark. The county administration was located in the town of Lillehammer. Merger On 1 January 2020, the neighboring counties of Oppland and Hedmark were merged to form the new Innlandet county. Both Oppland and Hedmark were the only landlocked counties of Norway, and the new Innlandet county is the only landlocked county in Norway. The two counties had historically been one county that was divided in 1781. Historically, the region was commonly known as "Opplandene". In 1781, the government split the area into two: Hedemarkens amt and Kristians amt (later renamed Hedmark and Oppland. In 2017, the government approved the merger of the two counties.
