Ivan Henderson
Ivan John Henderson (born 7 June 1958) is a Labour Party politician in the United Kingdom. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Harwich from 1997 to 2005. He is currently a member of Essex County Council for Harwich. Early life Henderson attended the Sir Anthony Deane Comprehensive, now known as the Harwich and Dovercourt High School. Henderson was previously a Harwich Town Councillor and Tendring District Councillor. He was a stevedore for Harwich International Port. He became a trade union official. Parliamentary career When elected in 1997, Henderson was Harwich's first Labour MP. He had expected to finish third in votes, and had to tell his dock manager that he could not work a scheduled shift. In Parliament Henderson was a Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Home Office, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Treasury. Harwich International Port
Harwich International Port is a North Sea seaport in Essex, England, and one of the Haven ports. It lies on the south bank of the River Stour upstream from the town of Harwich, opposite the Port of Felixstowe. The port was formerly known as Parkeston Quay. History The Great Eastern Railway, which was formed from the merging of the Eastern Counties Railway and the Eastern Union Railway in 1862, operated passenger steamers across the North Sea from Harwich to continental Europe. By 1872, shipping trade had increased so that more capacity was required and the Great Eastern Railway obtained permission to reclaim land at Ray Farm, a mile to the west of Harwich, and build a new quay. This new quay was opened in 1883 by Charles H. Parkes, the chairman of the Great Eastern Railway company, the port being named after him as Parkeston Quay. 2013 Essex County Council Election
The 2013 Essex County Council election took place on 2 May 2013 to elect members of Essex County Council in Essex, England. They were held on the same day as other local elections. 75 councillors were elected from 70 electoral divisions, which returned either one or two county councillors each by first-past-the-post voting for a four-year term of office. The electoral divisions were the same as those used at the previous election in 2009. No elections were held in Thurrock or Southend-on-Sea, which are unitary authorities outside the area covered by the County Council. Richard Caborn
Richard George Caborn (born 6 October 1943) is a British politician who served as Minister of Sport from 2001 to 2007 and later as the prime minister's ambassador for England's 2018 FIFA World Cup bid.
