Ithaca (band)
Ithaca are a British metalcore band, formed in London in 2012. Their current lineup consists of vocalist Djamila Boden Azzouz, guitarists Sam Chetan-Welsh and Will Sweet, bassist Dom Moss and drummer James Lewis, whilst bassists Drew Haycock and Red Sismey are former members of the band. Emerging from the London hardcore scene, Ithaca were known their diverse and emotionally charged and intense musical style. Outside of their music, Ithaca were known for their focus on social issues, emphasizing values such as community and diversity. Following the release of two extended plays, Ithaca recorded its debut album '' The Language of Injury'' in 2017, amidst a period of turmoil. Due to "various reasons", it would not see a release until February 2019, through Holy Roar Records. In 2020, the band left Holy Roar after the label's founder was accused of sexual misconduct and signed to Hassle Records the following year. The Aftershock Festival is a hard rock and heavy metal festival in Sacramento, California, started in 2012. ''Metal Hammer'' is a heavy metal music magazine and website founded in 1983, published in the United Kingdom by Future, with other language editions published by different companies available in numerous other countries. ''Metal Hammer'' features news, reviews and long-form articles covering both major and underground bands in heavy metal, as well as covering rock, punk, grunge and other alternative music genres. Publication history Wilfried F. Rimensberger conceived ''Metal Hammer'' in 1983, taking the idea of a rock magazine publishing in different languages to Jürgen Wigginghaus, publisher of the German magazine ''MusikSzene'', where Rimensberger was chief editor. Big Thief
Big Thief is an American indie folk band formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2015. The lineup comprises vocalist-guitarist Adrianne Lenker, guitarist Buck Meek and drummer James Krivchenia. Founding bassist Max Oleartchik left the band in 2024. Big Thief's debut album, ''Masterpiece'', was released on Saddle Creek Records in 2016. Their second studio album, '' Capacity'', was released in 2017. In 2019, the band signed to 4AD and released two studio albums: '' U.F.O.F.'' in May 2019 and '' Two Hands'' in October 2019. Jamie Lenman
Jamie Edward Lenman (born 9 November 1982) is an English musician and illustrator. He was the lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter for British alternative rock trio Reuben from 2001 to 2008. He also works as an illustrator, which he made his primary focus upon Reuben disbanding. In 2008, Lenman began releasing and performing as a solo artist and has gone on to release five studio albums. As an illustrator, Lenman worked full-time for ''The Guardian'' from 2007 until 2014. He has also frequently contributed to the ''Doctor Who Magazine'' under the pseudonym "Baxter", releasing a collection of his work so far for the magazine called ''Whoah!'' in 2014. ''Far Out'' is an independent British online culture platform founded in 2010 and headquartered in London. The site focuses on independent and alternative culture, providing analysis of music, film, travel and the arts alongside exclusive interviews and curated playlists. Venom Prison are a Welsh death metal band. Stephen Hill of ''Metal Hammer'' described their second album as "2019’s most anticipated extreme metal albums". Their lead vocalist Larissa Stupar was described by ''Kerrang!'' as "metal's most important - and uncompromising - voice". The band has released four studio albums. Employed to Serve is a British metalcore band from Woking, England. History Employed to Serve was formed in 2011 by current members Justine Jones and Sammy Urwin. In July 2020, several members of Employed to Serve and Renounced released an EP as the side project Glorious. Their album ''Conquering'' was elected by ''Loudwire'' as the 41st best rock/metal album of 2021. The track "Exist" was elected by the same publication as the 6th best metal song of the same year.
