Itay Shanny
Itay Shanny (born 1 September 1998) is an Israeli archer. He represented Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics competing in the men's individual event. Shanny was seeded 60th out of 64 in the ranking round. That rank placed him against 5th seeded Japanese Hiroki Muto in the first round. Shanny got the upset victory, beating his opponent 7–3. In the second round, facing 37th seed Indian Tarundeep Rai, Shanny won the match with a 10–9 single arrow shoot-off after the match was tied 5–5, advancing to the round of 16. There, he lost by a score of 6–5 to Taiwan's Tang Chih-chun Tang Chih-chun (; born 16 March 2001) is a Taiwanese archer competing in men's recurve events. Israel At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Israel competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo with its largest contingent to date − a delegation of 90 athletes, 55 men and 35 women, who competed in 15 different sports. This was almost double the previous number of 47 athletes who represented Israel at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The Games were also Israel's most successful to date, winning four medals, including two gold. At Tokyo, Israel marked its Olympic debuts in surfing (new to the 2020 Games), baseball (returning to the Games), archery, equestrian and marathon swimming. The men's individual archery event was one of five archery events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held at Yumenoshima Park. There were 64 competitors from 40 nations, with nations having either 1 or 3 archers. Background This was the 13th consecutive appearance of the event, which has been held every Games since archery returned to the Olympic program in 1972. Six of the 8 quarterfinalists from the 2016 Games returned: silver medalist Jean-Charles Valladont of France, bronze medalist Brady Ellison of the United States, fourth-place finisher Sjef van den Berg of the Netherlands, and quarterfinalists Mauro Nespoli of Italy, Taylor Worth of Australia, and Takaharu Furukawa of Japan. Tarundeep Rai (born 22 February 1984, in Namchi, Sikkim, India) is an Indian archer. He is conferred with the Padma Shri, in 2021, by the Government of India, for his contribution in Sports. Earlier, in 2018, he was awarded the Khel Ratan Award. Career Tarundeep made his debut in international archery at the age of 19 years when he played at the Asian Archery Championship 2003 held at Yangon, Myanmar. Tarundeep Rai won India their maiden individual silver medal in archery at the Asian Games at the 16th Asian Games on 24 November 2010 in Guangzhou, China. He was a member of the Indian archery team that won the bronze medal at the 15th Asian Games in Doha in 2006. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Tarundeep was placed 32nd in the men's individual ranking round with a 72-arrow score of 647. Tang Chih-chun
Tang Chih-chun (; born 16 March 2001) is a Taiwanese archer competing in men's recurve events. He won the gold medal in the men's team recurve event, alongside Luo Wei-min and Wei Chun-heng, at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2018, he competed at the Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina without winning a medal. In the boys' singles he reached the elimination rounds where he was eliminated in his second elimination match, by Trenton Cowles of the United States. Cowles went on to win the gold medal.
