Itaquai River
The Itaquai River is a river of the upper Amazon Basin. It forms the eastern boundary of Atalaia do Norte municipality in the Amazonas state of north-western Brazil. Its main tributary is the Rio Branco. Downstream it joins the Ituí River to form the upper Solimões. Atalaia Do Norte
Atalaia do Norte is the most western municipality in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. As of 2020, its population was 20,398 and its area is 76,355 km2, thus making it the third largest municipality in Amazonas and the seventh largest in Brazil. Ituí River
The Ituí River is a river of the upper Amazon Basin. It traverses some 370 km of the Atalaia do Norte municipality in the Amazonas state of north-western Brazil. The Ituí is a left tributary of the Javary River. It drains a very low gradient, dropping hardly 100 m over its whole extent, which results in extensive meandering. The Rio Negro, Beija-flor and Branquinho are some of its western tributaries, while the Rio Novo is its main eastern tributary. Downstream it joins the Itaquai River to form the upper Solimões. Korubo People
The Korubo or Korubu, also known as the , are a largely uncontacted, Panoan-speaking indigenous people of Brazil living in the lower Vale do Javari in the western Amazon Basin. The group calls themselves , and in Portuguese they are referred to as ''caceteiros'' (clubbers). Much of what the outside world knows of this group is based on the research of Brazilian explorer Sydney Possuelo, who first contacted the tribe in October 1996, and journalist Paul Raffaele. Vale Do Javari
Vale do Javari (English language: Javari Valley) is one of the largest indigenous territories in Brazil, encompassing 85,444.82 km2 (32,990 mi2) – an area larger than Austria. It is named after the Javari River, the most important river of the region, which since 1851 has formed the border with Peru. It includes much of the Atalaia do Norte municipality as well as adjacent territories in the western section of Amazonas state. Besides the Javari it is transected by the Pardo, Quixito, Itaquai and Ituí rivers. Inhabitants Vale do Javari is home to 3,000 indigenous peoples of Brazil with varying degrees of contact, including the Matis, the Matses, the Kulina, and others.
