Italia Wave
The Italia Wave Love Festival is an annual music festival held in Italy. The first edition in 2007 was held from the 17th to the 22nd of July in Florence and Sesto Fiorentino, and the 2008, 2009 and 2010 editions in Livorno. In 2011 it is set to be held in Lecce. It mainly presents rock music, although as in recent years it will also feature important artists of other styles. Continuing the tradition of Arezzo Wave, entry to the festival will be free, although after 21:00 hours a €10 ticket will be required. The festival will continue to host both upcoming bands and internationally famous ones, and a large number of non-musical cultural events. Jimi Tenor
Jimi Tenor (born Lassi O. T. Lehto, 1965) is a Finnish musician. His artist name is a combination of the first name of his youth idol Jimmy Osmond and the tenor saxophone. His band Jimi Tenor & His Shamans released its first album in 1988, whilst Tenor's first solo album appeared in 1994. "Take Me Baby" became his first hit in 1994. He has released albums on Sähkö Recordings, Warp Records and Kitty-Yo record labels. Tenor has performed several times with the avant-garde big band Flat Earth Society. In 1997, he contributed a cover of "Down in the Park" to on the Gary Numan tribute album Random''. King Britt (born 1968) is an American educator, DJ and record producer from Philadelphia. Biography Britt is a 1986 graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1987, he started working at Tower Records, as a buyer for the singles/import section. His extensive knowledge of dance music made him an in demand buyer in the company. He went on to make many connections in the music community, bringing in records and new labels from all over the world. King attended Temple University. In 1990, King Britt began his first DJ residency at the Silk City in Philadelphia and the now defunct Revival. These two DJ residencies would help change the course of dance music in Philadelphia and lay the foundation for King's musical future. Alexis Latrobe (), known professionally as Alex Gopher, is a French mastering engineer, electronic musician and producer. He worked as a sound engineer at Translab Studio, notably for Angèle, Clara Luciani, Lomepal, -M-, Mr. Oizo, Gesaffelstein and Etienne Daho. Latrobe has contributed a great amount to the French touch movement of the 1990s. Career Latrobe began his musical career playing bass in the band Orange with future Air members Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin. After the group split, he began to create electronic music and embarked on a successful solo career. Latrobe's musical style mainly consists of sampling, along with recruiting vocal talent. Cassius was a French musical duo consisting of producers Philippe Cerboneschi and Hubert Blanc-Francard, better known as Zdar and Boombass (or sometimes Philippe Zdar and Hubert Boombass). Under its different incarnations the duo is likened to the " French Touch" movement of electronic music in the second half of the 1990s. Âme is a German house/techno duo consisting of Kristian Beyer and . The duo started making tracks in 2001. Beyer and Wiedemann first met in 2000 in Beyer's record shop in their hometown of Karlsruhe. As they both liked Chicago house and Detroit techno, they started to produce music together. Âme has released music for record labels such as Ostgut Ton and Sonar Kollektiv. "Pass the Mic" is the first single from the third studio album ''Check Your Head'' by American rap group the Beastie Boys, released on April 7, 1992. Sampling lawsuit In 2003, Beastie Boys were involved in the landmark sampling decision, ''Newton v. Diamond''. In that case, a federal judge ruled that the band was not liable for sampling James Newton's "Choir" in their track, "Pass the Mic". The sample used is the six-second flute stab.
