Nelson Ismael Sánchez Jiménez (born 17 June 1982) is a Dominican cyclist, who currently rides for amateur teams HG Corratec and La Vega. He was the Dominican National Road Race champion in 2007 and 2017 and is a five time winner of the Vuelta a la Independencia Nacional. Career 2007 Sánchez won the National Road Race championship. 2017 Sánchez won for the third time the Vuelta a la Independencia Nacional after winning the mountainous Moca - Constanza stage. He also won for the second time the National Road Race championships. La Vega, Dominican Republic
La Vega, officially Concepción de la Vega (Real), is the third most populous city and a municipality of the Dominican Republic. It is the provincial capital of the homonymous province. The city is known as the Carnival epicenter of the Dominican Republic for its tradition and culture, its large agricultural production methods throughout its province. History Concepción de la Vega (Real) was the first settlement in its province, having been founded in 1495 by Batholomew Columbus at the foot of a fortress built by his brother, Christopher Columbus in 1494, which was intended to guard the route to the interior gold deposits of the Cibao Valley. An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time.
