Islamic Marxist
Islamic socialism is a political philosophy that incorporates elements of Islam into a system of socialism. As a term, it was coined by various left-wing Muslim leaders to describe a more spiritual form of socialism. Islamic socialists believe that the teachings of the Qur'an and Muhammad, citing aspects of the religion like zakat, are not only compatible with principles of socialism, but also very supportive of them. They draw inspiration from the first Islamic state, which was established by Muhammad in the city of Medina. This blend of Islam with socialist principles was popularized as a viable form of anti-imperialism that could be widely accepted in the Muslim world. This is especially seen in the works of Egyptian writer Salama Moussa, who wrote extensively about socialism and about Egyptian nationalism against British rule.
