The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICT Administration), () generally known as the Islamabad Administration, is the provincial-level civil administration (and the main law and order agency) of the Islamabad Capital Territory, which includes the city of Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan. The Administration operates under Presidential Order No. 18 of 1980, which conferred the powers of a provincial government on the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad. Executive The Executive Officers of ICT Administration are:- # Anwar-ul-Haq, Chief Commissioner, Islamabad # Muhammad Ahsan Younas, Inspector General of Islamabad Police # Irfan Nawaz, Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate Departments There are six directorates and twenty five departments working under ICT Administration. Islamabad Capital Territory
The Islamabad Capital Territory is a federal territory of Pakistan, centred around Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It is located on the northern edge of the Pothohar Plateau, at the foot of the Margalla Hills, in the northwest of the Punjab region. The Territory shares borders with the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the west and the province of Punjab in the remaining directions. It covers an area of and, according to 2023 census, has a population of over 2.3 million. The area was separated from Rawalpindi District in 1967 to form a separate territory administered by the federal government. Islamabad Traffic Police () is a "model traffic police force" formed under the Capital Territory Police in 2006 to "bring a new and healthy change in the traffic system" in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The police force is responsible for the enforcement of traffic rules, education of traffic laws to the community, issuance of driver' licenses to qualified drivers, advice to the Capital Development Authority on road engineering issues, and regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on highways, avenues and roads of Islamabad and is rated as second corruption free police organization in Pakistan, after National Highways and Motorways Police. Government Of The Islamabad Capital Territory
The government of the Islamabad Capital Territory, a federal territory of Pakistan containing the capital city (Islamabad), is provided by the federal Government of Pakistan and by a number of territorial bodies. Article 258 of the Constitution of Pakistan stipulates that the President of Pakistan is responsible for establishing the government of the federal capital and the Parliament of Pakistan makes laws for the territory. Although the federal government retains strategic power over the territory, the day to day government is carried out by a number of bodies, which have been established over the years.
