Islam Rzayev
Islam Rzayev ( az, İslam Rzayev, 11 November 1934 – 26 January 2008) was an Azerbaijani singer, People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. Biography Islam Rzayev was born on 11 November 1934 in Sardarli, Fuzuli District. He was one of the followers of Karabakh singing school. He studied professional music education at Azerbaijan National Conservatory Music College, Azerbaijan State Music College named after Asaf Zeynally in Baku (1951–1956) and studied Dastgah, mugham dastgahs in the class of Seyid Shushinski. He also took mugham lessons from Zulfu Adigozalov and Hagigat Rzayeva and improved his education. Then he graduated from Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art, Azerbaijan State Institute of Art in 1976. From 1958 to the end of his life, he worked as a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall. He was also engaged in pedagogical work. Dastgāh-e Chahārgāh ( fa, دستگاه چهارگاه; az, Çahargah) is a musical modal system in traditional mugham music and one of the seven ''Dastgāh''s of Persian Music Persian music may refer to various types of the music of Persia/ Iran or other Persian-speaking countries: *Persian traditional music * Persian ritual music *Persian pop music Iranian pop music or Persian pop music ( fa, موسیقی پاپ ا� .... Khananda
A khananda ( az, xanəndə ; fa, خواننده; alternative spellings in English: khanende, khanande, khanandeh) is a name generally given to singers of mugham, an Azeri folk music genre. The word is of Persian origin and means "singer". When performing traditional mugham, a khananda is accompanied by a trio of musicians who play the tar, the kamancheh and the daf (tambourine). Often the khananda is the daf-player. Origins and development The exact origins of the art of khanandas have not been studied thoroughly however it is likely that it emerged during the urbanization in the medieval epoch. In the growing cities, khanandas would perform at the events organized by the nobility, on weddings and fairs, in caravanserais and tea houses. With Persian being the main language of the local literature at the time (mugham lyrics were based on Classical Islamic poetry), khanandas used it in their performance and therefore gained popularity mostly among the aristocracy.
