This is a list of islands and other locations in the ''Pirates of the Caribbean'' film series. Davy Jones' Locker Davy Jones' Locker is a fictional place first mentioned in '' Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'' and ''Dead Man's Chest'' before being featured prominently in '' At World's End''. Based on a real superstition of the same name, Davy Jones' Locker is the nautical idiom meaning "the bottom of the sea". The Locker is also a realm in the Land of the Dead, similar to purgatory, and the place where Davy Jones was entrusted with the task of ferrying the souls of those who died at sea into the next world by the goddess Calypso. ''Pirates of the Caribbean'' is an American fantasy supernatural swashbuckler film series produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and based on Walt Disney's theme park attraction of the same name. Vieille Case, sometimes spelled as Vielle-Case, is a village on the north coast of Dominica. The Commonwealth of Dominica in the West Indies was first inhabited by the Kalinago people who were referred to as Caribs by the Europeans. Itassi (pronounced: e-tassy) is the Kalinago name for the area in Dominica which is now known as Vieille Case. An audio commentary is an additional audio track, usually digital, consisting of a lecture or comments by one or more speakers, that plays in real time with a video. Commentaries can be serious or entertaining in nature, and can add information which otherwise would not be disclosed to audience members. History The Criterion Collection introduced audio commentary on the LaserDisc format, which was able to accommodate multiple audio tracks. The first commentary track, for the 1933 film '' King Kong'', was recorded by Ronald Haver, a curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and was inspired by the stories Haver told while supervising the film-to-video transfer process. Terry Rossio
Terry Rossio (born July 2, 1960) is an American screenwriter and film producer. He co-wrote the films ''Aladdin'', '' The Mask of Zorro'', ''Shrek'', and all five of the ''Pirates of the Caribbean'' series. For ''Shrek'', he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and won the Annie Award for Writing in a Feature Production and BAFTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He often collaborates with fellow screenwriter Ted Elliott. Life and career Rossio was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Ted Elliott (screenwriter)
Ted Elliott (born July 4, 1961) is an American screenwriter and film producer. Along with his writing partner Terry Rossio, Elliott has co-written the films ''Aladdin'' (1992), '' The Mask of Zorro'' (1998), ''Shrek'' (2001) and the '' Pirates of the Caribbean'' series (2003–11). He was attached to write a feature version of '' Monkey Island'', which failed to materialize. In 2004, he was elected to the board of directors of the Writers Guild of America; his term on the board ended in 2006.
