Neftçala
Neftchala () is a city and the capital of the Neftchala District of Azerbaijan. Etymology The city name is of Persian ("naft" meaning oil or petroleum) and Azerbaijani ("çala" meaning trench) origin, meaning oil trench. History Throughout its history, Neftçala has suffered from floods because of its proximity to the river and most of the town's relatively low elevation. Today, there are a palace of culture, regional study museum and gallery museum in the city. Geography The city lies southwest of the delta of the Kura River. Umid Field
Umid gas field ( az, Ümid qaz yatağı) is the second largest natural gas field in Azerbaijan. It is situated in the South Caspian Sea, off the coast of Azerbaijan, approximately southeast of Baku, at a depth of . In translation from Azerbaijani, ''Umid'' means ''Hope''. History Umid field is a part of a block previously consisting of Umid and Babek fields. The geophysical works at Umid started in 1953 which were repeated in 1972. A total of 9 wells were drilled in the area from 1977 to 1992, however no commercially viable fields were discovered at the time. In 2009, SOCAR financed the exploration works at Umid itself. This is the first time since the Contract of the Century that Azerbaijan conducted exploration works entirely on its own. Neft Daşları ( az, Neft Daşları, russian: Нефтяные Камни, Neftyanye Kamni, also known as the Oil Rocks) is an industrial settlement in Baku, Azerbaijan. The settlement forms part of the municipality of Çilov-Neft Daşları in the Pirallahy raion. It lies away from the Azerbaijani capital Baku, and from the nearest shore in the Caspian Sea. A full town on the sea, it was the first oil platform in Azerbaijan, and the first operating offshore oil platform in the world, incorporating numerous drilling platforms. It is featured in ''Guinness World Records'' as the world's first offshore oil platform. The settlement began with a single path out over the water and grew into a system of paths and platforms built on the back of ships sunk to serve as the Neft Daşları's foundation. Gunashli (Azerbaijani: ''Günəşli'') is an offshore oil field in the Caspian Sea, located east of Baku, Azerbaijan, southeast of Oil Rocks and its deep water section is a part of the larger Azeri–Chirag–Guneshli (ACG) project. The Azerbaijani translation of ''Gunashli'' means ''"sunny"''. Gunashli is believed to have more than 100 million tonnes of oil reserves.
