Ishmael Kipkurui
Ishmael Rokitto Kipkurui (born 10 February 2005), also spelled Ishmael Kipkirui, Ishmael Kirui, or Ismael Kipkurui, is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. He was the individual winner of the 2023 World Cross Country Championships U20 race, leading his Kenyan team to a gold medal finish. He is also the Kenyan under-20 record-holder in the two miles run after his runner-up performance to Jakob Ingebrigtsen at the 2023 Meeting de Paris. Career After trying for and failing to make the Kenyan team at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships, Kipkurui would not make his international debut until 2022, qualifying for the African Championships by virtue of his 2nd-place finish at the Kenyan Athletics Championships in the 5000 m. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely Aerobic exercise, aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running come two different types of Respiration (physiology), respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. Cornelius Kemboi (born 29 February 2000) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. Early and personal life Kemboi attended St Patrick's High School in Iten, in the west of Kenya, 350 kilometres north-west of Nairobi. His idol growing up was David Rudisha. He has two older brothers who both received athletics scholarships in the United States. Daniel Simiu Ebenyo (born 18 September 1995) is a Kenyan middle-distance and long-distance runner. Early life Brought up in Baragoi, Samburu County, having lost his father early in life to cattle rustling, he was raised by his mother and later, grandmother. He has said that it was while at Aiyam Day secondary school a 24 km trek to the learning institution and back home would eventually make him an athlete as walking to school early in the morning and back in the evening was the most dangerous time to do the journey as they crossed bandits' battle grounds along the narrow paths to the school and even though he would set off at 5:30 am for an 8 am start at school, would sometimes be forced to take an even longer route. Jacob Krop (born 4 June 2001) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He won the silver medal in the 5000 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships and bronze at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. At age 17, Krop was the 5000 m silver medallist at the 2019 African Under-20 Championships. The Maurie Plant Meet – Melbourne is an annual outdoor track and field meeting which takes place in February at the Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne, Australia since 2023.
