Satoshi Ishii
is a Japanese-born judoka, mixed martial artist, kickboxer and submission grappler who has held Croatian citizenship since 2019. Ishii won the gold medal in Olympic Judo at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, a silver medal at the 2006 Asian Games and two All-Japan Judo Championships representing Japan. Maki Ishii
was a Japanese composer of contemporary classical music, and brother of composer Kan Ishii. Biography Born in Tokyo, Ishii studied composition privately (with Akira Ifukube and Tomojiro Ikenouchi) and conducting with Akeo Watanabe from 1952 to 1958 in Tokyo, then moved to Berlin, where he continued his studies under Boris Blacher and Josef Rufer. In 1962 he returned to Japan . His music has been performed by the '' taiko'' group Kodo and he has composed for Japanese instruments as well as symphony orchestra and other Western instruments. Kazuhisa Ishii (石井 一久 ''Ishii Kazuhisa'') (born September 9, 1973) is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher and current manager and general manager for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He played in NPB for the Yakult Swallows and Saitama Seibu Lions and in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets. Susumu Ishii
Susumu Ishii (石井 進 ''Ishii Susumu''; 1924–1991) a.k.a. 石井 隆匡 was the second ''kaicho'' (godfather) of the Inagawa-kai yakuza gang in Japan. He was also fifth ''socho'' of the Yokosuka-ikka. Ishii was born in Yokosuka in 1924. In World War II, he was assigned to a kaiten unit of the Japanese Navy but was not given the chance to take part in a suicide attack. After the war, he became a yakuza and joined the Inagawa-kai in 1958. He rose to the number two position in that gang, but was imprisoned for a gambling scam from 1978 to 1984. After serving his time in prison Ishii spoke to the media, saying; "We cannot succeed in the yakuza world unless we are active and aggressive until our early forties. , sometimes credited as Kouichi Ishii, is a video game designer perhaps best known for creating the ''Mana'' series (known as ''Seiken Densetsu'' in Japan). was a Japanese composer, and the brother of composer Maki Ishii. His father, was a prominent Japanese ballet dancer. His ''Symphonia Ainu'' won a prize at the 1958 Art Festival, inspiring him to do further work inspired by nationalist primitivism. His musical style appeals directly to the emotions, and shows the influence of Carl Orff. is a Japanese professional shogi player ranked 6-dan. Early life Ishii was born on April 13, 1992, in Chiba, Chiba. He became interested in shogi after receiving a shogi set as a present from his grandfather, and started attending a shogi school run by shogi professional Kazuharu Shoshi as a kindergartener. Ishii failed the entrance examination for the Japan Shogi Association's apprentice school twice before finally passing it and being accepted into the school at the rank of 6-kyū in 2004 under the guidance of Shoshi. is a Japanese computer scientist. He is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
