Isaiah D. Clawson
Isaiah Dunn Clawson (March 30, 1822 – October 9, 1879) was an American Opposition Party (Northern U.S.), Opposition Party / Republican Party (United States), Republican Party politician who represented New Jersey's New Jersey's 1st congressional district, 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1855 to 1859. Born in Woodstown, New Jersey, on March 30, 1822, Clawson attended Delaware College, (Newark, Delaware) and Lafayette College Easton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Princeton College in 1840 and from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1843. He commenced the practice of medicine in Woodstown. He served as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly in 1854. The Political Graveyard is a website and database that catalogues information on more than 277,000 American political figures and political families, along with other information. The name comes from the website's inclusion of burial locations of the deceased (when known). It is also a pun; where bodies are buried can refer to the politicians accused of crimes or touched by scandal. History The site was created in 1996 by Lawrence Kestenbaum, then an academic specialist at Michigan State University, and later on staff at the University of Michigan. Kestenbaum was formerly a county commissioner, and in 2004 was elected to be County Clerk/ Register of Deeds of Washtenaw County, Michigan. New Jersey General Assembly
The New Jersey General Assembly is the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature. Since the election of 1967 (1968 Session), the Assembly has consisted of 80 members. Two members are elected from each of New Jersey's 40 legislative districts for a term of two years, each representing districts with average populations of 232,225 (2020 figures), with deviation in each district not exceeding 3.21% above and below that average. To be eligible to run, a potential candidate must be at least 21 years of age, and must have lived in their district for at least one year prior to the election, and have lived in the state of New Jersey for two years.
