Isabel Moreno
Isabel Moreno Pérez (born 28 January 1942) is a Cuban actress. She has worked in Cuba, Venezuela, and the United States, where she currently resides. She is known for playing characters such as Teresa Trebijo, La Santiaguera, Chachi, La Mexicana, Soledad Mendoza, Cachita, and Bernarda Alba. Biography Isabel Moreno was born in Havana on 28 January 1942, the only daughter of Eugenio Moreno and Isabel Pérez. She has been married to actor Gaspar González since the 1970s. They have two daughters and a son. Early career Moreno's beginnings were in the theater, where she has spent most of her artistic career, although she has ventured into film and television. In the 1960s, she became involved in the cultural movement of Havana and the formation of several theater groups. Abelardo José Estorino López (29 January 1925 – 22 November 2013) was a Cuban dramatist, director, and theater critic. Biography Abelardo Estorino was born in Unión de Reyes on 29 January 1925. After ''Bachillerato (Cuba), Bachillerato'' studies in Matanzas, he trained as a dental surgeon and practiced as such for three years (1954–1957), dividing time between the job and his literary vocation. He wrote his first play, ''Hay un muerto en la calle'', in 1954. It remains unpublished. The success of his second dramatic work, ''El peine y el espejo'', written in 1956 but released in 1960, placed him firmly in the world of literature and drama. After studying stage direction at the Teatro Estudio de Cuba and working with Julio Matas and Herberto Dumé, it was the 1960s that marked the growth and direction of his work. ''Metamorphoses'' is a play by the American playwright and director Mary Zimmerman, adapted from the classic Ovid poem ''Metamorphoses''. The play premiered in 1996 as ''Six Myths'' at Northwestern University and later the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago. The play opened off-Broadway in October 2001 at the Second Stage Theatre. It transferred to Broadway on 21 February 2002 at the Circle in the Square Theatre produced by Roy Gabay and Robyn Goodman. That year it won several Tony Awards.
