Irseer Pegasus
Irseer Pegasus is a literary event of the Swabian regional group of the Association of German Writers (''Verband deutscher Schriftsteller VS'') and the Schwabenakademie Irsee, which takes place annually in January at the Irsee monastery. The authors' meeting promotes encounters and discussion within a workshop of writers from the fields of fiction, poetry. and essay writing. Joint textual discussion and literary discussion, as well as the awarding of a prize for literature, are the highpoints of the meeting. Eligibility requirements Authors should be able to demonstrate at least one independent book publication (not self-published) or to present comparable publications. Applications must be submitted by the end of October of the previous year at the latest. A jury evaluates the submitted texts, which must be able to be read in a maximum of 15 minutes. Irsee
Irsee is a village and municipality in the district of Ostallgäu in Bavaria in Germany. The centre of the village is dominated by a monastery (Klosterbau), dedicated to the Virgin Mary The monastery was founded in 1186 by Margrave Henry of Ronsberg to house a community that had grown up around a local hermit. It came close to collapse in the 14th century, when the community was reduced to a single monk, and was saved only by the intervention in 1373 of Anna von Ellerbach, the second founder, sister of the Bishop of Augsburg, and her appointee, abbot Conrad III, known for his extreme frugality. Matthias Politycki
Matthias Politycki (born in Karlsruhe on May 20, 1955) is a German novelist and poet. He studied in Munich and Vienna and obtained a PhD in philosophy in 1987. His first novel ''Aus Fälle/Zerlegung des Regenbogens. Ein Entwickelungsroman.'' (Drop Outs / Disassembling the Rainbow. An Entwicklungsroman) appeared that same year. Angelika Overath
Angelika Overath (born 17 July 1957 in Karlsruhe) is a German author and journalist. Overath studied German literature, history, Italian Studies, and cultural studies at the University of Tübingen and wrote a PhD thesis, PhD-thesis in 1986 about the colour blue in modern literature. Anna Mitgutsch
Anna Mitgutsch (born 2 October 1948) is an Austrian writer and educator. Her name also appears as Waltraud Anna Mitgutsch. Biography She was born in Linz and studied German and English literature at the University of Salzburg. Originally a Roman Catholic, Mitgutsch converted to Judaism and worked on a kibbutz in Israel. She taught at the Institute for American Studies at the University of Innsbruck and, after going to England, at the University of Hull and University of East Anglia. Next, She taught for a year in Seoul, South Korea and then at colleges and universities in the United States from 1979 until 1985, when Mitgutsch returned to Austria. Kerstin Becker
Kerstin Becker (born 14 March 1969 in Frankenberg, East Germany) is a German writer and poet. Work and life Kerstin Becker was raised in Moosheim und Hainichen in Saxony. She worked as a typesetter and cemetery florist amongst others. In the late 1980s, Becker was under surveillance by the authorities of the GDR and arrests were carried out due to so-called "anti-state actions". In the late 1990s, Becker took courses in creative writing. Since 2001, she works as a freelance writer, editor and lector. She mainly writes poems and children's books. Until 2019, she was also co-editor of the Dresden based literary magazine ''Ostragehege''. Armin Steigenberger
Armin Steigenberger (born 7 January 1965 in Nuremberg) is a German poet, novelist, writer, literary editor, and musician. At the end of the 1990s, he was chairman of the Münchner Literaturbüro. He won several literary awards including Irseer Pegasus in 2009. Life and work Steigenberger studied architecture at Technical University of Munich and worked until 2000 in the same profession. Since then he has worked as a freelance and writing reviews and organizing reading and writing seminars. Bregenz
