Ironi Alef High School
Ironi Alef High School (), previously Gymnasia Balfour (), is a notable high school located in Tel Aviv, Israel. Also known as Aleph High School of Arts Tel Aviv-Yafo. History Gymnasia Balfour The Gymnasia Balfour was founded in 1931 by as a private Gymnasium (school), gymnasium, Real Balfour Gymnasia (). Koler decided to build the gymnasium similar in spirit to those in Europe which would provide its students education in Hebrew that would allow them to enter a university. He had previously managed a government-run gymnasium in Galicia (Eastern Europe), Galicia (modern-day Poland). The school was situated on Mazeh Street in Tel Aviv, near the water tower. Israel Yeivin (; January 7, 1923, in Berlin – December 19, 2008) was an Israeli linguist, scholar of Masorah and the Hebrew language. Biography Israel Yeivin was born in Berlin. His family immigrated to Mandatory Palestine when he was seven, and he grew up in Tel Aviv. His father, Yehoshua Yeivin, was a conceptual philosopher of the Revisionist Zionism movement and founder of the radical Zionist group Brit HaBirionim. His mother was Miryam Atara Margolin. As a child, he attended Ahad Ha'Am School and graduated from Gymnasia Balfour in 1940. Rafael Vardi (Also spelled Raphael Vardi; ; 1922 – 25 December 2016) was Israel Defense Forces Aluf, Major General and former head of the Manpower Directorate. Yon Tumarkin (; born 22 July 1989) is an Israeli male actor and singer, best known for playing Leo in the TV series ''Split''.
